Warning Spoilers: With there now being two dragons awakened, leaving only one dragon left, I think the next expansion will be massive. If we kill both dragons next expansion there will only be one left. So that means 2 maybe 3 expansions left (including the upcoming one) . My question is what does the future hold? If the final dragon has all the powers of the last how are we suppose to kill it? Will there be GW3? i know that is like 5 years ATLEAST away. I’m just worried to see my favorite gaming world disappear.

PS: PLEASE RELEASE MORE BOOKS! I know you guys already said you wont, but pwease

All the Dragons should now be awake. Mordremoth was the final one the awaken.

I’m torn on this whole “Super Dragon” business. It is far too cheesy for my liking.

We have 4 Dragons left which should be providing a significant threat for a long time. We’ve already (sadly) killed off two rather too quickly and easily considering these are Ancient, super powerful beings who have survived many Millennia. HoT pushed away huge swathes of lore and story it could have explored to the detriment of the game. I hope the next stories will be much more in depth and detailed and really get into the building and chronicling of the lore.

Worst case scenario and we do actually kill off the Dragons too soon, we still have other threats from GW1 such as Lazarus, Palawa Joke and potentially whatever is happening over in Cantha. Plus who knows what else could absorb Dragon energy. I think the potential mileage for the material they have is great if they use it right.

I don’t personally think a GW3 will be a thing or certainly not in the next 10-15 years.

You are spot on with killing the dragons to easily. They are suppose to be these world ending beings and we kill them without a large scale battle. I get the whole “power of a guild” thing, but we fight their subordinates with a large group of people. Also the dragons absorbing the dead dragons power is exciting for me because maybe the fights will be exciting. I hope Arena net doesn’t close the book on this world when its all said and done.

Maybe ANet is stacking up the dragons to get past the ‘kill Elder Dragons’ storyline and move to a post Elder Dragon world. When you think about it, killing dragons is a rather trite but difficult to make epic storyline. Once they move past that they can branch out to other story lines with bosses that don’t need a difficult to pull off final battle. There’s a whole world out there with non dragon bads and other story lines.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

I would like the old pantheon of gods coming back. Like titans stomping around the world.

I was always of the opinion that the story would have been better served had Elder Dragons simply been beyond our capacity to kill and that the actual adventure would have been in surviving and finding arcane ways to put them back to sleep ( hopefully for a millenia or two )

The human vs ants analogy they went with while hyping the game doesn’t hold well when we can just walk up and end them.

They still have the chance of either turning the remaining dragons far too strong to deal with (specially the Deep Sea Dragon, if they don’t kill him off-screen it probably should not be dealt with at all), forcing us to strike a “deal” of sorts and move on to more interesting yet “mundane” threats; They can still bring baddies like Palawa, Lazarus and whoever rules Cantha into play, as well as beings from the Mists like Menzies and Dhuum (or even completely new outsiders, that arrive here just like the human gods but with bad intentions).

What matters is that they absolutely do not play out the eldritch horror trope anymore. Lovecraft does not suit an MMORPG where everything can be killed by our characters. We are the omnipotent beings here, not our enemies, and it’s kinda silly that an elder dragon like Mordremoth simply bent over to our will. An enemy like Lazarus or Palawa Joke, however, would bring far more immersion into play, because their intentions are much more “human-ish” and they have actual feelings that we can either despise or relate to.

Maybe when they will run out of dragons we will see some actual villains. The ones with personalities and goals.

Guys…this is the map of Tyria ( the planet and not just the continent named after it )

https://dviw3bl0enbyw.cloudfront.net/uploads/forum_attachment/file/206202/image.jpg

If they do one expansion for dragon, we’d still have 3-5 years good to go. After that we would have cantha and elona.

After Cantha and Elona, we would still have a massive planet to visit, with continents 3x bigger than Tyria that alone would require 10+ years worth of coverage, between LS and expansions.

And even after all the planet is charted….we have this still https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/The_Mists

That could lead us to other worlds all together like it was for WoW ,so…take it easy guys Anet has enough material that can last generations

Isn’t it curious that while the world is so huge the Elder Dragons are all around the same area? Was that ever explained? Why does the current world have so many leylines?

Maybe there are more Elder Dragons than those Tyrians know about. Just like the world of Earth (and what inhabited it) was much smaller until someone decided to go exploring.

Who knows?
