At the start of this topic. I think HoT is awesome, much fun and I enjoy playing it! But nothing is ideal so and HoT.

So can someone tell me why should we have legendary armors? You can switch stats on them you say. Ok that’s cool. But there we go with the same problem which we have in legendary weapons. Cant switch runes/sigils. Ok, ok we can. But seriously. Someone who want to play in all types of game PvE/PvP/WvW would have to pay hundreds of golds each weak on switching them.

Currently I’m using Dire, Berserker, Soldier, Knight, Rabid and Nomad equipment depending on what I want to do and where I want to play. Also working on adding Giver and Sinister stats to my collection. I’m using different runes/sigils in almost all of them. The only one when i have the same stuff are Soldier/Knight, Rabid/Sinister and Nomad/Giver.

So in short terms. I can have cool looking legendary armor/weapon and that’s all. Only thing why players are unlocking them is for skins. No once cares about stat changing because of the reasons i wrote earlier. Currently if you want to have a different stats on gear you have to get multiple copies of it anyway.

And the question is; WHY ANet didn’t think about adding LEGENDARY runes/sigils with this expansions? Or do we have to wait another year or two to get them in the next expansion?

If ANY dev will read this topic. It is not a BabyRage or crying about how bad expansions or legendary armor is. This topic is a simple asking;
-what other uses legendary items have right now other then applying their skins to our gear? Switching stats is not an a argument
-can we expect legendary runes/sigils in the future?

Legendary has always been about skins and bragging rights.

Regardless of whether you believe GW2 is the right sort of game to have bragging rights and your personal opinion around that whole way of thinking, that is why Legendaries exist. The weapons never quite had that mystique or at least after the first year is was truly gone. Legendary Armour will highlight your ability to conquer a raid and that for a while at least, will be a worthy accolade for those players.

Beyond the stat changes and always being top tier, that is it.

To me the main reason is for the stat switching so to say it’s not an argument is silly.

No one is forcing you to get it.

No, the main reason is/was supposed to be for the skins.

That was the entire reason for legendary.
The only reason they have stat switching was that when they added ascended it was no longer semi cheap to swap stats with the old transmute system, since it took two physical items and combined them, destroying the old stat item in the process.

Which with exotic wasn’t that big a deal. But once they went to ascended people felt that grind just to swap stats was too much. So they added stat swapping.
Now that we have the wardrobe system, and no items are destroyed in the process, I feel the stat swapping actually needs to go.

Legendaries need to be what they were supposed to be, awesome skins, but only skins.

Yeah, I think being able to switch stats on the fly will be great.

I agree with OP, as someone who thinks most of the legendary weapons just look tacky, the only reason I can imagine wanting them is to skin them as something more tasteful and use the stat swapping, but without the ability to swap sigils and runes it serves no purpose.

Me too. I’m glad I made a legendary when I did (it had exotic stats in those days) and now my Dreamer has zealot stats.

I think you missed my point I totally agree with you. Legendary items are mainly for stats switching for me too.

I’m saying it is not an argument because it is not really an option. It doesn’t matter if i can switch stats when I can’t switch my runes/sigils. For example I’m using Force/Strenght for my Bersereker and Cleansing/Water for my Nomad. So when i switch stats from Nomad to Berserker I end up with useless sigils

I never made use of the stat switching on my weapon cuz I don’t wanna keep replacing the sigil.

1. To give players a long-term end game goal

2. To keep content relevant, most people wont repeat content over and over for enjoyment alone. Adding hard to obtain rewards keeps it worthwhile to repeat, which is necessary in an MMO

3. To continue the trend of skins as progression, rather than stats

4. Its been requested alot

The main point of legendary armor is me having it and looking shiny, so other players can complain on the forums and in game that they dont look as shiny as me and this game is P2W.

One Armor to build them all and in the gameplay bind them
In the endgame where diversity matter

The point of having any legendary item is and always has been the skin. If you don’t care about that, why would you bother? The ability to switch stats is pretty meaningless when you consider how many times the cost of any other set of armor a legendary set will likely cost.

It’s pretty cool that you’ve found five different armor sets useful—but that’s not exactly typical for most of us. :P

I spent like 20k gold and I don’t even own a legendary or care about cosmetic. Horizontal progression is a *.

If anyone wonders how I spent so much money. Altaholic is a serious problem. If I come to some senses I should realize I don’t need 9 permanent bank license and +10 agony ring on every character.

That being said, I cut down on my altaholic problem and is getting my first legendary juggernaut.

I think the main reason why I am so rich is because i only play one character and dont care too much about cosmetics or achievement points.

This is content few will ever complete.
If you’ve made a legendary weapon WITHOUT buying it, how likely will it be for you to make 6 legendary armor pieces if the difficulty stays the same? (Likely harder to get.)
If the armor is available as loot, well, that’s absurd.

Ok maybe i said it the wrong way.

I’m talking here mainly about stats swapping. Since most of different build requires different stats and different runes/sigils.

The main think i want to say is that curently stats swapping is almost useless. Im not gonna change stats to Berserker on armor where i have Melandru runes (maybe it would have some usage but you know what i mean). Same the other way, I’m not gonna use armor with Krait/Trapper whatever runes with Berserker stats.

That’s what I’m trying to say. Besides cool looking skins legendary items are not very special compared to ascended.

What do you think guys about Legendary Runes/Sigils? Should they exist? I think they definitely should but only for legendary items. So you can’t put those runes in exotic gear for example.

Hope you can save runes on legendary armor to somthink like spvp have as changing stats is neat and all but usually you need to change runes with it.

I can tell you Anet probably never intended for legendary to swap stats, but you wont’ believe me anyway. There are probably too many confusion since there’s no stats swaping before, and people are wondering why the legendary weapon they craft is soldier gear.

But if Anet is to let legendary having sigil/rune swaping it would be great. One set to rule all set means people will no longer need to spend addition money to craft more ascended gear if they own a legendary. I hope Anet do it, so I can just focus on legendary and no need to worry about making more ascended gear.

Anet already said they have something in plan like crafting additional “blank” legendary. What ever that means. Anet probably will add new ways for people to be more convenient. Just dont’ expect it to be cheap.
