I mined everything I wanted from LS3 episode 4 a couple of weeks ago. (mastery and achievement points, and map completion). It would also appear LS3 has ended, since the Boss Bad Guy has been eliminated.

When might I expect to find any new content to be released? Is anything promised for sure in CY2017?

The “boss bad guy” would be the dragons, not Caudecus. We still have a few more episodes of LWS3 left.

That being said, the next “content update” is probably in April, specifically April 1st. And this will probably be Super Adventure Box.

What you call the Boss Bad Guy, I call a midboss. Think the Shadow of the Dragon; not even the attack in the cave, but when attacking the Pale Tree. The dragons are the goal, but we’ll have small victories along the way.

The conversation your character has with Canach at the end of Episode 4 makes it pretty clear we’re not done with that storyline yet, it sounds like we’ll be going after Lazarus next (who may or may not be the ‘big boss’).

Separately from that Anet have confirmed there is an Episode 5 coming. Assuming that follows the same pattern as previous releases it will come out in May or June. (They said one Episode every 3-4 months and the last one was February.)

Before that we should be getting the return of the Super Adventure Box in April, since last year they said it’s going to be an annual event. That doesn’t appeal to everyone of course, but a lot of people do enjoy it. (I’m finding it amusing that my brand new upgraded graphics card will be arriving just in time for me to spend most of my time in a pseudo 16-bit mini game.)

Oh and at some point they’re going to release another expansion. But they haven’t even officially announced that yet. We know they’re working on it but that’s all we know.

Actually, the statement was ‘every 2-3 months’, and, thus far, it’s been closer to 2 months than to 3 months. So, April (SAB) + Episode 5, or May.

Good luck.

Thanks. I’d overlooked that.

This thread is mostly a spinoff of my forum post about a friend who bought HoT as a starter for GW2 here! and I got carried away. Obviously I am looking at alternatives, since GW2 might be new to a new player, it’s not to me.

I think I remember SAB twice in the past. Do you consider that new?

The question “how many times can you play the same content” covers SAB quite well, I think, and pretty much rules it out as being called “new”. I have plenty of leftover tokens in the bank and don’t think I need to start another stack.

SAB is not currently in the game, therefore re-adding it to the game counts as a “content update”.

Outside of ANet, no one knows when the next new content will be added to the game; they don’t tell us until — at most — a few days before. The new episodes have recently gone out every 2-3 months, but there have also been added current events (as well as minor things like additional cats or minor achievements).

In addition, ANet has added raids, fractals, new PvP seasons, and um, WvW has gotten… well, not much.

It also depends on how much you were able to play it before.

I completed almost every achievement for World 1 when it was first released, but when it came back later the same year with World 2 I was feeling pretty burned out because Anet had switched to bi-weekly updates about 2 months before so a lot of stuff had been coming out, all of it temporary, and in August I spent every free minute trying to beat Liadri in the Gauntlet. On top of which it was the summer, which was my busiest time at work and when I was most likely to be busy or away on weekends.

So when September came along with the updated Tequatl, (the first permanent update in a while) and the return of SAB, which was assumed to be an annual/bi-annual event, I took the opportunity to take a break from the game, meaning I barely played any of the new SAB stuff.

So when it finally came back last year I had all of World 2 normal mode to do, and I haven’t got much more free time than before so I never got around to Tribulation Mode. I’m looking forward to starting that this year.
