Speculation thread on when the big patch is hitting tomorrow – GO!

I’m hoping 4pm EST. Only because that’s the time I get home and it would be nice to play

Can’t wait for the big kitten patch!

I’m really excited for the continuation of the living story and also the other updates (I’m looking at you, Guild Missions!)

This seems to be what they aim for usually.

Meaning that it will be late 27. for Europe.

Feb 27th @ 3 AM EST.

They seem to pretty consistently hit 3PM EST (12PM PST) within a few hours. I suspect no different tomorrow.

Is there a good reason why they’re breaking their content-update-schedule and releasing on a Tuesday instead of a Monday? Are they just saying Tuesday so the Europeans don’t get mad again when it’s actually Tuesday for them, and it’ll be Monday for Americans?

But will it be ready?

Looking at past content patch release dates, I don’t think they have a set schedule.
10/22/12 – Monday
11/16/12 – Friday
12/14/12 – Friday
1/28/13 – Monday
2/26/13 – Tuesday

Fair point, though if you include their non-content updates, more often than not it falls on a Monday. I guess it really doesn’t matter either way.

Just trying to get ahead of the QQ. Tomorrow we get an update (which I’m excited about), and inevitably, people will be posting all day, inquiring about what exact minute it will go live.

From past experience, Anet does not release this, as it takes time to push the update live. So please with hold raging until at least 5pm PST, the end of their work day (typically its live before they leave work).

But seriously though, when exactly will it go live?!?!?!?!?! JK… XD

Due to the patch coming out on a Tuesday, instead of a Monday like last month, I actually thought they might have given themselves an extra day after the weekend to get it out faster. Would be an interesting way to dodge the angry, hungering masses. I doubt that’s the reason why it’s on a Tuesday, but we’ll have to wait and see though.

Remember to take advantage of all the panic sellers, TP hard to win the game!

Maybe after the 924th update that fails like this they’ll think about releasing it early instead of late…

(PS: 5 pm PST is 2 am on the next day for me)

Sorry but making a post about this is pretty pointless. You really believe the players that make the posts asking about the release time of the patch will read this? They are the same players that don’t read stickied/search posts so im not sure why you expect them to read yours and suddenly stop posting about it

One topic is about guessing when it will release. One is asking people not to rage all day. Not really the same thing IMO, but oh well.

Big patches pretty much always take a few more hours then you think. Just be patient tomorrow.

It would be nice if we could get the patch notes tonight to read over before tomorrow. They must be ready by now.

Then the second patch to fix the stuff the first patch broke will be round 7pm est

Probably not today. Maybe tommorow but for sure dont plan to play it until weekend. It may be bugged when it finally arrives.

Was just gonna ask the same question myself.

From previous experience when we get a date for something it usually arrives in the late hours of that day or if there are delays in the early hours of the following morning. Shame because I’m off work today but let’s hope I’m wrong.

Maybe they could add times as well as dates to the website?

well i disagree, last mmo i played bfore gw2 it was rift and in rift there was always announcment about upcoming patch and the time it gonna be applied, i think triple A mmos should be more detailed about changes they making to the game. and update time’s

lol the patch will probably come at reset just like the jan patch did. there isnt one time they can do that will convenient for everyone. 6 o clock is when ti resets for me. which is midnight in the uk. figure yur time our from there.

They can’t realistically give a time because it depends on a lot of different factors.
They put it out as soon as they can, but they have to allow for time to iron out any last minute issues etc.

They’ve given the day that the update will be pushed out and that’s all that really matters, it doesn’t change how you play the game. If you’re going to play then play, maybe the patch will be out? maybe it wont? Likewise if you weren’t going to play on that day then it doesn’t matter what time the patch comes out.

Fairly sure it would be an outrage on the forum, people complaining they didn’t plan for the update and what not while at the same time everyone is happy ingame. Most like every other patch.

How do pretty much all the other MMO companies out there manage to do what ANet can’t in your opinion then ?

Because of the way the patching works in GW2 I don’t think its that big of a deal, giving specific times of the day well beforehand is certainly possible though and there are several hundreds of pieces of evidence provided by Blizzard, SOE, FunCom, CCP etc.

They seem to aim it for noon Seattle time, So 20:00 (8PM) GMT.

I am GMT+1, and don’t expect it to go live in Europe until the wee hours of tomorrow morning. I will be surprise if it is before then …

this question has been asked about every major patch. and, for Halloween patch, we actually don’t know when the patch will go live /endfacts

this probably has something to do with their server architecture, which is designed that way to minimize downtime.

The patch usually arrives the next day of the actual date that ArenaNet gives. So the patch will arrive the 27th (tomarrow), probably early in the morning for us in the Europe.

the patch usually arrives the day it does. it will arrive in europe in the middle of the night o the 27th and the 26th here in the U.S.. like i said, its usually at reset.
