"When it's ready"
What? I have had no issues other than occasional voices. I thought they fixed most of the problems people were having?
You cannot prevent all bugs. Its not possible to test for the live environment. Many things that happen as such are being fixed anyway. Hot fixes happen for almost every live game there is. Things will be fixed and stablized. I think ANet does a fine job of squashing the bugs.

There are a bunch of broken events and skill point challenges around the world of Tyria, that were not broken before the patch. For instance, the skill point challenge in Bloodtide coast, where you have to fire cannons to hit some targets, the cannons no longer clear the wall in front of the cannon, and just explode there, no matter how long you hold onto Skill #2.
Certain items also won’t stack. It’s actually kinda funny to see stuff jumping around in your inventory as you spam ‘compact’.
Could be worse. At least nothing is getting deleted. Still, bleh.
Someone in game clued me in on the workaround for the stacking issue: put all the items in your bag (eg the Tomes of Knowledge that aren’t stacking with pre-patch ones — not the birthday ones, the regular ones), zone to another zone then back to where your bank is. At that point they will stack in your bags and you can put them in the bank.
Maybe they stack after one zone transition, I didn’t check, but definitely I was able to combine my Tomes by hopping to Shaemoor and back into DR.
I’ve seen people leave games for much better reasons than this. I guess it depends on how much you enjoy the game to the point that you can tolerate issues.
Compared to Shaiya. GW2 is pretty much in “top shape”. In fact compared to most MMO’s out there now, the Devs keep working on bugs almost daily.
If you knew anything of Aeria Games or Nexon, you’d know the pains of True gaming bugs.
Try playing a game that you love for years, and then out of no-where, the bugs got so bad that you and the pvp raid couldn’t see peoples HP drop. Couldn’t res until the auto respawn timer did it for you, due to bugs. Weekly events that every guild competed in, for a rank and possible “Guild House”, which we would all get kicked from and the server forced to re-roll, week after week, while the Hosts of the game hoped the next patch would stop the issue occurring.
Some other, smaller bugs were left unfixed for years.
Anyone who leaves GW2 now just for a few issues with UI’s display issues or a broken skill point, really need to look at how lucky they are to have our current Devs.
This is coming from me (the guy that moans about almost anything that them Devs do or don’t do – #SAB).
Lol….oh noes…UI bugs and random voices; dude try playing a game where if you die you lose all your items and cause ofa bug you lose all these items and the devs refuse to rollback/refund, those are bad bugs, your complaints are, well sad, plus most of the bugs are already fixed, not like they are here to stay.
I remember a bug in Ultima Online that turned everything in your inventory into fish when you crossed a certain bridge. lol

And the whole time these bugs are going unchecked, they continue to sell top end gear and upgrades in the item shop, including upgrades that are essentially impossible to achieve in-game, creating an environment where one must spend thousands of dollars or thousands of hours to be even remotely competitive in PvP.
I played Shaiya for far longer than I like to admit, even serving as a Gamesage for a time. Any time I hear/see someone talking about GW2 being P2W or buggy beyond playability, I think to myself how blessed they are to not have experienced what a real buggy, P2W game is.
Edit: Were you around when a patch completely wiped the auction house, including everyone’s items and gold waiting for pickup? That was fun.
So after this patch and the absolutely insane amount of bugs and problems its caused nearly every player, I really don’t mind them pushing the HoT release back much, much further, if it means the expansion will run even HALF as stable as the game is currently. I consider myself lucky to only have a handful of bugs during gameplay; when I read some other players’ comments and posts, it seems that a lot of people have it much worse.
This has all been a clever ruse by Anet. Whenever in the future people insist that HoT needs to drop immediately people will refer back to this time and say “I’d rather have it when it’s ready”.
I remember a bug in Ultima Online that turned everything in your inventory into fish when you crossed a certain bridge. lol
Kids today don’t know how well they have it. Back in my day… :P
If bugged voices and a game crash are forcing you out, you probably don’t have a lot of patience anyways. I spent 7 years on a game (F2P aka P2W) where bugs were expected to a degree that you can count on at least 20+ people on each server checking after each patch if certain trade/duplicate glitches were re-introduced after being “patched” every so often.
Oh your AOE circle farmed all the herbs in the area it covered? 1-2-Farming Easy Peasy.
Oh World-Boss #1 has a disease condition that affects everyone in a certain radius, and it didn’t reset once leaving the lair and therefore infected the entire game and docked 1000 health each second leaving the game unplayable? Yay.
Oh, you’re auto-attacking the mob you’re standing on, but your “Target is not in range?”
Dexterity stat doesn’t increase at stated percentage and evasion is broken? Have fun Archers- we’ll see you in 5 years when you finally cap and we’ve been sitting here for 4.5 (and lol @ your broken damage for 7 years and still counting).
Oh, a Gladiator can glitch their skills to 0 cool down and break PvP? That glitch existed for years. was patched and showed up again. Utterly hilarious.
I don’t have much sympathy for anyone that complains about a few aesthetic bugs. =/

tl;dr can I have your stuff?
bugs happen after patches.
“When it’s ready” are just words to cover slow or non-existent development.
It’s that time of year again when everyone announces publicly that they’re taking a break/leaving forever?
Thanks for letting us know!
Guy is expressing his worries about stability of game build. He says he’ll wait until it’s fixed. Why are there ppl taunting him or asking to get his stuff? He’s not leaving, he’s making a break which is kind of wise if he’s not satisfied with the game now. And some of you dare call yourself “the best mmo community”.
I’ll say this again and again.
Check the number of hours you invested in this game, and compare with the number of hours you actually couldn’t play (at all) because of game breaking bugs.
And get a reality check. Be grateful you have been able to pay for so long in a game that costs so little compared to the rest.
There’s nothing horrible happening right now with the little bugs. It’ll get fixed. And being all doomsayer about future expansions is just ridiculous. We know nothing, Jon Snow.
Game was sold with the “future patches included” on the box. If the game is broken it is his right to complain. Pretending that nothing happened is the reason why companies dont care about customers anymore. If accept everything they try to do they dont need to care anymore.
And mr styx for the op the game could be expensive and only he knows if the hours he played were worth it. You’re using your own opinion and experience to judge him which is intolerable. You are noone to revoke his right to complain. If you’re hapyp with the game thats good but stop saying other ppl they should be happy because you are. They shouldnt.
There’s a difference between complaining because something is really broken (as in, you can’t play), vs. just whining about some bugs.
I was playing in the past few hours. There were a ton of people in various maps. None were complaining (apart from the strange voices). This means the game is perfectly playable.
There is a “right to complain” of course, but this sense of entitlement is a plague. And gratitude is completely lost.
For you it’s whining, for him it’s important. You are noone to tell him his voice is not important. Stop pretending anet dev. I find your sense of entitlement to abuse ppl with different opinion a plague – see? This is an example of different points of view. You find yourself superior with your forgiving attitude while for someone else you may look like a rude guy. Stop telling him he’s wrong.
I actually agree with Many. I don’t see anything wrong with this guy’s post. He is aggrieved, wrongly or rightly, by the number of bugs in the patch. He’s made a decision to take a break. Fair enough.
I’m not sure what posting it here adds to the conversation, but it’s certainly his right to post it.
Clearly this last update ran into just push it out and patch it later syndrome. I suspect this was so they can remain on their gem store schedule (noticed how 2 weeks worth of item were push out in 2 days). This really show where Anets priority are, they are not here to make a good stable game, they are here to suck money out of the gemstore.
HoT will be the same, the starting areas will be polished, the end game buggy as hell, but don’t worry the gem store will be 100% tested and working.

I think it had more to do with what competitors are doing than what gem stores are doing. Are you suggesting they can’t update the gemstore without making a whole patch?
/conspiracy theory
Let’s be fair, while I find many of gem store items lazy cash grabs (those outfits grrr…) you cant expect model designers to fix gameplay bugs. Those ppl are not qualified for this. There is a very good video at TotalBiscuit’s channel which convinced me that when major work is done only things left to do for design team is to make cash shop items. And I agreed with him at the end.
I like how no matter how awful the patches are, there will always be sympathizers trying to defend Arenanet. This patch broke so many things which is quite laughable and sad really. Even Blizzard has higher standard than this kitten.
The bugs are not bad, they are simply noticeable. Obvious bugs are always seen as a lot more serious even if they are benign, such as the shout bug currently running around that makes me crack up every time.
Give it time to be fixed, and everything will get back to normal. If you leave a game because an oops patch, really the only big one over FOUR YEARS, then you are probably not enjoying the game anyways. This is simply an excuse. There is no reason to come onto the forums and berate the game. Especially since its a free sub game.

I like how no matter how unreasonable someone’s expectations are, they still try to justify them by using hyperbole.
You used the word laughable and sad. I agree completely.
So only sub games can be complained about?
And how do you count GW2 lifetime to be over four years?
Complaining does no good in any game. I see very little reason for people in general to complain about issues and such in game. Report them, let the public know about them, then move on. Complaining over and over about an issue will not make the fix happen any faster. It will put pressure on the devs to simply throw in a hot fix quickly with inadequate testing, when this happens, more bugs arise.
Chill off, be patient. A fix will come. If you have been in the game since before beta, a couple weeks of buggy game play is nothing. For a game with no sub, ANET has done an outstanding job of QA. Every company gets one or two that slip through their grasp.
Also the four years thing was a brain fart, I meant 3.
Complaining has an important purpose. When unsatisfied customers are going vocal other ppl become aware that advertised product may have faults. This is company’s job to avoid such mistakes in the future.
I find actually funny that such buggy patch was released soon after big sale for gw2. Isn’kitten great marketing lesson?
“insane” amount of bugs? You are overreacting about that. Except for the occasional voices, nothing has been going wrong at all.

What are the “so many things” it broke where you can laugh about it?
And I love no matter what Arenanet does there will be those who are negative to them all the time.

Yes, obviously complaining on an official forum where you need to have an account to be able to post is going to reach “other people”.
What you don’t get is that the vast majority of players are logged in and playing now.
Check the complaints on the forum: They’re all the same people.
So many “funny buggy patches”… yet GW2 is still standing strong and doing well.
I guess they’re pretty good after all
But hey, as you said, I’m not going to stop you from complaining. Please do carry on.
You dont need an account to read the forums.
I’d like to see a detailed data you’re using to assume
the vast majority of players are logged in and playing now
if you dont like complains, dont read them, its an advice on the same level of your “arguments”. They are not posted to you anyway, you are noone here.

The forums are here for players to provide feedback. Which means it’s perfectly alright to give negative feedback. But it also means that it’s perfectly alright for other players to disagree with that negative feedback.
Only if the “disagree” part isnt insulting or entitled to force opinions. and the guy trying to devaluate the OP is not constructive. He’s agressive.

By your own logic then neither are you. They’ve also purchased the game same as you and are entitled to voice their opinion about the game (even if it disagrees with you) in the forums.

Wait wait… I’ve been insulting? Aggressive? Where?
Where is also the “constructive complaint” in the original post?
And I’m not the one who’s called me “noone” for the 4th time.
To reply to your comment too: People who want to buy the game won’t come to the forums to make up their mind. They read reviews, ads, or ask friends.
PS: I am not forcing anything on anyone. I’m just trying to point the other side of the coin. Complaining about a few bugs is easy. Complaining without offering a solution is easy too. And apparently, so is forgetting the number of hours you’ve spend playing a good game without any bugs.
I am in no way affiliated with ANet, I just know when a company is trying to do a good job or not. And remeber: They’re a BUSINESS. They’re purpose is to make money, not entertain us out of kindness of heart.
(edited by Styxx.1564)
of course I am noone, my posts are made for company to be read, other players have no power here so why should I care about them?
the problem here is mr styxx is devaluating OPs complaint which is a problem and I’m having fun defending OP who I agree with.

those are only assumptions, data pls, and the data for “majority of players” i mentioned in previous post still missing
Many… If you think there are more players complaining on the forum than there are in-game right now, I can’t help you. Even if I brought numbers you’d dismiss them anyway.
Sorry.

But you’re posting on a, well not entirely, public forum therefore you’re opening yourself up to be challenged by people who disagree with you. If you want a closed line of communication between yourselves and the developer then you should contact them directly via e-mails/private messages/support tickets (I’d prefer you did not do the last one as that would be a misuse of support resources that could be better utilised helping people who needed it).

Bring them. I assume nothing, I care only about myself and my experience and money.
It is you who used the argument about players majority so you must have data. Prove me wrong and share it.

Very unlikely. I agree with you – I would rather see a release a very long time from now with a lot of polish and very few bugs, than a release soon but extremely broken.
I doubt very much that’s what’s going to happen, though. Not only is the recent patch a sign that ArenaNet’s Q&A isn’t the best in the world, but I also don’t believe ArenaNet can afford to postpone the expansion a lot. They’re likely under pressure to release it, and so try to make a profit, as soon as possible. The fact they are not going to make Living World releases until the expansion also means that, the longer they take, the more likely that the playerbase will thin out due to lack of content.
of course I am noone, my posts are made for company to be read, other players have no power here so why should I care about them?

I’m not taking anyones right to answer me. I want to make it clear I dont care about other players opinions. I care only about my money and experience. And customer support is a waste of time to post opiinons. Only public demands on forums make companies react because it can be seen by potential customers and they want to keep good looks.

Didn’t ignore it. Just wanted you to clarify why you’d say “I don’t care for other peoples opinions” whilst defending an opinion you agree with and belittling an opinion you disagree with. You’re coming across as a little hypocritical at this point.

Of course I am. I care about myself so I defend whatever I agree with and argue with things I dont agree with. This is what everyone does.
I’m sorry if I wasn’t clear in my original post – I wasn’t bashing Anet or the game at all! I was mainly just venting some frustration at the fact that I game I enjoy playing more than any other game is having this many issues. It’s not that I’m impatient or don’t understand how game development works (I’ve developed games in the past, and am currently working on a new one – I definitely understand the process of dealing with bugs). This post was mainly venting a bit of frustration after losing multiple ranked PvP matches due to bugs (things outside my control/personal skill level).
Also, I’m a little confused as to how during the QA and testing before the patch dropped none of the developers had these issues listed (voices playing randomly, guild chat not working, client crashes when leaving parties, etc.). I would imagine they tested these things, yet these problems seem to be widespread across the community.
Sorry if I made it sound like Anet isn’t doing a good job! I’ve played gw1 since launch, so there’s no doubt I appreciate the work they do.
