i think you can use transmutation crystals to transfer the runes over to a new set of armor.

I agree… even if it doesn’t yield any ecto/dark matter. I don’t understand why I would be forced to transmute WvW runes over or use a splitter.

Dungeons give armor that doesn’t cost any gold and tokens are easy to get. Yet WvW costs gold and tokens and can’t be salvaged. The current system makes no sense to me.

Too bad stones cost like kitten. Cheaper buy new runes if you don’t use some divinitys or melandrus.

Yes, this is quiet annoying and, frankly, pathetic. Not only that, you also can’t dump WvW gear into mystic toilet.
