I’ve got a name in GW1 that my wife would like to use in GW2, but every time she tries to use it, she’s told the name is reserved in GW1 for another player. I can’t delete the character in GW1 (not that it would likely make a difference) because it’s my main.

Originally, name reservations were only going to last 5 days or so after launch. When will they stop being reserved?

it was 3 days after launch, then they were un-reserved. So at this moment there shouldn’t be any reserved names anymore. Only the ones who are taken in GW2 already

I can confirm this isn’t true. I am able to make a character with the name (because it’s reserved for me), but she can’t. The name is still being reserved.

I’ve used the name and deleted the character. Maybe that will free up the name after 24 hours. I’d still like to know when the reservations end, though.

If you create a character named Joe and then delete it, you will be able to create another character, immediately, and name it Joe. I have done this numerous times myself while looking for a second class to play.

But there are still some GW1 names that are still being reserved. I have been trying to create a character, with a name that I have used in MMOs for over 10 years, but can’t because it is still reserved for a GW1 user.

@CoRtex demonstrably not true. You can actually get an error that plainly states the name you want is still reserved.

This is a common question, and one that I’d like to see answered, but that I haven’t seen an answer to.

The Starflyer is real!
