Just went through another world boss fight and many of my skills simply will not fire. Doesn’t matter if it’kittenting the function keys or clicking on the skills.
Usually this happens for a brief period after a big update and then skills work again.

They haven’t worked properly and continuously since the last patch.

Are you sure its not your internet? Skills behave just like that whenever I disconnect for a few seconds

That won’t solve the problem. Those skills fire off just fine when there isn’t 150 players around me. It only occurs repeatedly during large world boss fights.
It’s like the game is not inputting my commands because they take more than a split second and it has new commands to act on.
I can stand under the Karka Queen and hit F1 on my warrior and the icon for that skill will flash but it wont actually fire and the count down to refire never starts. It’s ready to fire constantly but wont.

It’s lag and it has been going on for a while. ANet doesn’t bother fixing it because it’s not on their priority list.

That is skill lag. It sounds like your set up somewhere can’t cope with the heavy demands in those fights. I’d advise a support ticket though since skill lag can be an issue their end as well (altho possible unlikely here since there would be thousands of posts about it since patch). Either way, they might be able to resolve it for you or advise you how to fix it.

As for now the engi’s medkit skill 1 is actually totally disabled, I guess they are fixing it somehow…..

As for lag, not much can be done about it as there are many variables as to the causes. Could be your comp, could be problems with your Isp or any connections between you and Anet’s servers. Then you add all the other players on top of that as well. So many variables.

Have you tried changing your graphics settings to Best Performance during these large fights/events? It helped me a bit when I was using a crappier computers and slower internet.

I am connecting from Minnesota to the Anvil Rock server on the east coast.
Is anyone else using that server and experiencing the same issues regarding skill lag?

Intel i7, Quad core 3770, 8 gig, NVidia Gtx 670 connecting on xfinity at 50 Mbps.

I doubt it’s my computer or connection at my end.

No but it could be a connection problem unrelated to you or Anet. The ticket you sent will be picked up by a tech person and they will be able to assist you to trace where any connection issue lies. You may need to talk to your ISP if it is ongoing.

I’m starting to think this may be an issue specific to just some world bosses.

Or it might be that it’s not something that they can easily fix. Shock and awe

Not everything is a 5 minute fix, especially when you’re dealing with network and latency
