When will we see new dungeons?
Never. Dungeons are dead, Anet is not interested into even maintaining them anymore, much less making new ones. You are supposed to move on into Raids.
Oh, those are not the same, and not really meant for the same group of people? Sorry, Anet doesn’t care.

Actually Fractals are meant to take the place of dungeons, but Astralporing doesn’t seem to care about that either.

Fractals are pretty soulless and empty feeling. I want a story dungeon with HoT lore :/

Actually Fractals can be quite interesting lore-wise because they all show something that has happened in the past, whether recently or so long ago that even the last dragon rising seems recent.
But yeah, I get where you are coming from and I have to agree with the previous poster – in terms of HoT lore the raid wing is your only bet. And the way they did lore there is actually pretty great and well worth praising.
Dungeons the way you know them are dead. Have been for years. I think they were a massive failure of game design and fundamentally broken, but in terms of visuals and lore they were a worthwhile addition to the game. Sorry to disappoint you
I agree. Also fractals are annoying and tedious now (the new instabilities are killing them; not to mention the 3swamp run).
So we need new dungeons and new fractals. And I will rethink the whole instabiliti3s thing.

I see so many max level characters, even with lots of masteries, running the old dungeons on story just cause it feels authentic. You would think the developers would realise they needed to add some in HoT to carry on the story but hey, they added a raid and even forgot to add LFR…
Unfortunately the current stance from ANet is that dungeons are dead and buried. The closest you’ll get to new dungeons will be the raids. Which would be fine on its own, but I dislike how the raids are so strict in their requirements for completion that it pretty much restricts the kinds of builds, team compositions and in some cases even professions you can bring to them. (Thieves need not apply for Spirit Vale, for example.)
ANet stated not too long ago, officially, that Dungeons are 100% dead. They are now focused on Fractals which are similar to Dungeons anyway.
I still think what they should’ve done, if they really didn’t want to cater towards Dungeons anymore, for them to just merge Dungeons into Fractals and maybe spice things up a bit by earning both the tokens and the relics per path etc.
The entire thing makes me feel like they had to make a decision on which type of content to abandon due to a lack of resources.
Must have been a decision between dungeons and fractals. They obviously picked the one that is the hardest and most expensive to design.
We’ll see how raids will work out in the long run. They might end up being abandoned just like the last instanced content that was supposed to be challenging, competative and most of all not there as something almost everyone can farm easily.
