Where are the crits? Double health bosses...
What boss are you referring to, in specific? Because most of the big “OW bosses” count as “objects” so you don’t actually crit them. You can do bigger damage every now and then, though, last I checked. Unless this also changed.
Edit: Well, there is that.
As noted below, that did change. Maybe it’s a bug, then.

Most of the WBs that used to be objects were changed last patch and can now be crit. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Game_updates
Yea, I saw that note about them being possible to crit. I have only done Shatterer and Behe today and didn’t see any crits. At Shatterer I scrolled back in the log and didn’t see any crits on him at all, and I run with 40 % crits…
So my first impression is that they got their health doubled but we didn’t get the promised crits?
There is still some fine-tuning that needs to be done to the system. The “structure” bosses can indeed now be critically hit, but only on a single hitbox, in many cases not the hitboxes that people usually attack.
For Shadow Behemoth, the hitbox is one inside its body, in the middle of the dark portal that kills people standing in it. For Shatterer (and Tequatl), the hitbox is underneath the dragon’s body, the spot where you go on Teq to get double-damage during the burn phase, but not the spot where people normally stand for the fight. For Fire Elemental, the hitbox is a spot not actually attached to the Fire Elemental physically, instead an invisible hitbox at the bottom of the raised platform everyone stands on for the fight, a place where people can melee the boss without standing in lava by swinging at air.
The one consistent thing about all those hitboxes allowing critical hits is that you can’t directly target them, leaving players with ranged weapons out of luck. You need to swing and cleave those spots, or use ground targeted/AoE skills, in order to be able to hit the right things and get your crits.
I would imagine this will be fixed so that every hitbox for the bosses will be able to be critically hit, but I don’t expect a patch to come over the weekend.

Fine tuning is when you get things mostly right and need to tweak some small things. I wouldn’t call getting it mostly wrong and fixing that, fine tuning.
Thanks X M for excellent explanation. At least I now understand how it works. If it’s a feature or not remains to be seen…
