These things are supposed to revive you from death, but I tried to use one when doing part of the personal story in HOT when I died and it simply didnt do anything.
The Orb got consumed, but I didnt get revived.
Are there limits / restrictions on where these things can be used?

Prenerfed Orr. When you make an ambitious leap off of a cliff, and die. And all the waypoints around you are contested, except one way off in the distance. :/

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

I’ve only ever used them in fractals and mostly just mai trin when we were ‘close’.

I think they should work anywhere in PvE, although I’ve never tried using one in a story instance because I thought there was always an option to revive at a check point close by. But I’ve not done the whole HoT story so there might be exceptions.

I mainly use them in jumping puzzles, if I think I can continue from where I am and there’s no one around to revive me. Almost anywhere else it’s easier to just use a waypoint. (Bearing in mind I never buy the orbs, I only have a few I’ve gotten free so I don’t want to waste them.)
