I just got back from about a two year hiatus. I went to Lions Arch, where everyone used to be. I didn’t see a single player. Is there a new hub? Was I on a wrong server?

Where are you exactly in Lion’s Arch? Cause the old craft zone where most of players used to be is destroyed. Go check a look near the south west port, cant remember what’s the name of the waypoint…

Ya, ppl used to be around the old bank, trading post, mystic forge and Trading Post. Right now, there is nothing there anymore. Ppl are also more spread out. All the stuff used to be in the middle. Right now, you have a bank and a tp really close in the north and just next to a working wp. You have trading post, bank, guild bank and crafting station in the south, but the wp is not working. You have a bank, tp, crafting station and mystic forge in the west.

There are four areas in post-Scarlet Lion’s Arch where you can find a lot of players; Fort Marriner, Postern Ward on the city’s east side where the Asura gate to the Durmand Priory is, Canal Ward on the north side, and the area around the Mystic Forge in the southwest. I generally park my characters at Postern Ward since just about everything except the guild bank is available there, including account bank, TP, laurel vendor, repairs, dungeon reward vendors, and crafting stations.

The mystic forge and crafting stations are now located in the western ward north of Sanctum Harbor Waypoint. There are also some crafting stations in Fort Marriner and some in Farshore Ward near Farshore Waypoint.

No, a decline in population isn’t the reason, that doesn’t make any sense because of the mega-servers. You’re not seeing as many players because there are now 3 places to be in Lion’s Arch. 3 hubs with trading posts, banks, and crafting stations. One also has the mystic forge, so that particular location in Lion’s Arch probably has a few more players hanging out than the other two.

You may want to check Divinity’s Reach too. At least that’s where I park my toons.

Plenty of people use the Rata Sum Accountancy Waypoint. Not only does it have everything (except the Forge) in close proximity, it’s an easy hop to the new zone of Silverwastes.

We don’t have toons in this game, surely you are mistaken and meant to say characters.

After LA got destroyed, a lot of people moved their base of operations to other places. Even though everything returned to LA, they found no reason to go back.
As for where everyone is, check the Labyrinth below Silverwaste.

Yes, as others said if it wasn’t due to a low population map from the megaservers then its simply because people are spread out across the game and not afking in the central hub anymore.

Megaservers reduced the server identity as well which meant grouping in LA became less a regular social thing for many.

There are 3 or 4 places within LA where you’re likely to find groups of people and it’s much more common to see people in the other cities than it used to be (Rata Sum especially seems crowded whenever I go there) rather than everyone crowding into one central hub.

Right now a lot of people are also spending all their time out in Silverwastes and (to a lesser extent) Dry Top because they’re the new maps and benefit from big groups.

I see lot of people even on mid lvl maps.

There’s no central hub in LA anymore. There’s nothing at all where the old MF was.

The closest thing when LA came back was at the south close to the WvW portals, but that waypoint was destroyed, so now people are spread all over the map. There will still be a lot of people in the south because the shortcut through HotM still drops you there, but others will be at the new MF area, on the east side of the map by the fractal entrance, and even at the north of the map where there’s a banker + TP.

Basically, they put bankers, trading posts, and crafting tables in several locations on the map and spread people out.

Indeed, as everyone has said, due to megaervers the LA map you’re in will nearly always be ‘full’. It’s just that everyone is spread out more in the map.
