Where is my Sylvari hair?
I don’t have a Sylvari character (yet) and for me, it’s due to a lack of variety in appearance. So many things could be done with the hair alone, such as ferns, pine needles, or even palm fronds. Accents such as flowers (daisies for instance) would be pretty interesting as well.
I’d bet players would even pay for such variety.

- I wish. And I’ve said exactly this before! Thank you for your input. What annoys me is that it’s mostly short hair available, whereas plants grow very quickly and wouldn’t it hurt to get it cut so often? I want lots of different lengths, like humans and Norns have.
Have you not seen the new hairstyles? Personally I don’t think sylvari should have real hair, but I guess it could just be grass.

I’ve been following each addition of new hairstyles and even tried some of them, but I don’t use any because I find them to be too similar, too short or make the face look odd due to bald patches on the temples or forehead, which I just can’t handle. A healthy, leafy plant doesn’t have random bald branches.
Also they don’t fall in with my idea of what my Sylvari should look like. I have spent a lot of money on this game and would spend more if they put nice hair in. I would probably change it every week if there was variety but at the moment, I hate all of them except one of the vanilla flower head hairstyles (the one most of the npcs have).

ANets decisions are baffling, to say the least. Lots of hair styles are out there as well as tattoos, faces, horns, ears, body markings for the various races. They could be raking in the money by pushing out all these on a regular basis, but months go by between new hair and faces and no new tattoos, horns, body markings or ears are available.

Yep. I also am baffled by the hairstyles that they have released, for Sylvari anyway. They are very, umm… unappealing? What I’m trying to say is, when they release new female human hair everyone gets a restyle and loves it, when it’s Sylvari I feel like people take a look and go, eww, no thank you, and you don’t see many people with the new hair at all.

Ikr. My new Sylvari Revenant has a original (from launch) face and one of the newer (since launch) hairstyles. I want both a new face and new hairstyle for her. I had high hopes for the new hairstyles just released but none suited her. When the game only releases 3 per race only every few months, that’s not many choices.
An exotic and a pretty style. (Pretty one designed by Anyandrell.6238)

Not a fan of the tree bark one, we already have like 3 of those but the flowery one is WOW! Thank you for your support I will hope this gets seen by devs
This! My first character was a Sylvari because of what I saw in the character select screen. But most sylvari in game don’t give off the same feel that the one in the character select screen gives off. I’m sure there’re lots of possibilities for Sylvari to look more like tree nymphs, or wood elves, or fairies
gaem not made for mi

Have you even looked at the hairstyles? They have almost everything you’ve listed already.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….

Variety of very ugly choices are currently in game, yes. Lol

Me too that’s exactly why I’m drawn to them as a race.

The artist that primarily worked on the sylvari hairstyles told us long ago (back when there were still racial forums) that stuff like pine needle hair or ferns would be too resource-intensive for the engine since it would require too many polygons to look right.

What kind of bullkitten is that? Have you seen the Norns new hairstyles?
They could do simple grass hair idc, I just want something different in length. How many more short cuts do they think we need?

I remember that post. It’s probably why that wisteria hairstyle is only a lovely dream and why so many of the hairstyles, both old and new, are solid wood shapes or immobile leaves.
Still, given the limitations, I still feel they could make more than 3 new racial hairstyles a couple of times a year. They seem perfectly capable of making whole new weapon sets once a month. New hairstyles every 3 months should be doable.

Guys, first of all thank you for the appreciation. Honestly I’d get on it and design dozens of concept hair, but when I did that one nobody even cared (not talking players here). I’d even do it for free (to a limit, of course) just for them to give us new stuff.
The “wisteria” wouldn’t even be hard to make or resource intensive, google “cherry blossoms kanzashi”

Btw, it’s not even hard to do the “wisteria” one, it’s just polygon petals on a string.

Yes, I’ve been asking since there were race forums and devs never seem to care! It’s really, really frustrating!!
Wisteria hair seems awesome! I can see like a sleek vine bun with that flower, like a geisha ^-^

I don’t see why the Sylvari hairstyles are so limited when other races have really pretty, detailed new hairstyles? I mean, look at the Norn plaits, I dream of something like that for Sylvari. Sigh of sadness.

Ikr.
The hair in this game isn’t up to the standards of Guild Wars 1 hairstyles. The pony tail on my Rit swayed when I moved and I could see individual strands of hair. The Afros had texture. They didn’t look like a half of a styrofoam ball was placed on your head. This game cuts too many aesthetic corners when it comes to hairstyle.
