I just got back into the game and loving it!!! I have started working on an ult. I am still completing the main story quest line but on my alt I have no interest in doing it or completing it. Is there a way to turn the story quests off so that I do have stare at the green glob every time I look at world map?

If not, then the devs should put that feature in the option section. No biggie, just a thought.

There is no off switch.

Trahearne is waiting for you.

Well that unfortunate. I wish they would make that an option.

There is no off switch.

Trahearne is waiting for you.

He wants you to hurry up and help him finish his personal story.

OP, a lot of people have been asking for the option to remove UI elements such as the annoying top right section which also includes a reminder about Trahearne’s story that never goes away until you kill Zhaitan. A while back though I’m sure I read Colin saying that they would be streamlining the UI, hopefully there will be an option to hide things like this in the not too distant.

The worst part is that we had options to turn off every part of the UI in GW1 individually.

I’m not sure why so many basic features from GW1 got left out completely in GW2.

Iirc, it’s because they think people will turn things off then be utterly clueless about how to turn them back on. Now granted, I agree this will happen but I would rather have a daily post in the forum from someone asking how to turn something back on than to be having my screen cluttered up the way it is.

I feel like I’m looking through a tunnel sometimes. Clutter to the right of me, clutter to the left. Clutter at the top when I’m killing a champion and clutter at the bottom.

Didn’t ANet say something about wanting to make a game where we weren’t watching the UI? Well, I’m not ‘watching’ the UI, but there is no way to stop seeing the freaking UI.

Because they are in fact not anything alike at all.

I too would love to be able to turn it off. Having leveled 4 characters to level 80 the personal story is not something I feel like doing anymore… Aside from that I have never done the last quest, so it just keeps glaring at me…

I truly hate clutter on my screen. Hearts popping up as you enter their range > great.
The rest > Not so much…

When we suggest the ability to personalize our UI and graphical options ANET reacts with the same horror as if we suggested handing running chainsaws out to babies.

I truly get the “vibe” that they feel we are incapable of messing with “their” stuff.

IMO a good solution to this would be to add a tab to the Hero panel that shows everything that current appears in the list on the UI, and then give us an option to choose which parts to show on screen like we can with achievements.

So we can not only hide the personal story but living story stuff, achievements, even dynamic events or the bar telling you the progress of meta-events and just see the bit we’re currently working on. But then get it all back again easily if we want it.

The annoying thing is there is a mod that hides all the clutter. I could have my UI so all that was shown was the chat box and skillbar ( I ended up putting the minimap back to see nodes). Gone was the needless raggedy edge, gone was the top right part, gone was all the things I didn’t want or more importantly need. Unfortunately, I think this mod could lead to a potential ban for using so I stopped and have to continue looking through the border of clutter at the land of Tyria

Danikat either that solution or have all the elements made transparent until you move your mouse over. Or an option to do both so you can remove the ones you’ll never use but can still check transparent ones by moving your mouse to the bottom right for map or the top left for menu icons. Raggedy border though, just ditch it, period.
