Where to get Ascended crafting materials?
I’m not really sure which mats you’re talking about.
Ascended gear involves a wide variety of mats. Do you mean silk scraps, soft wood, or ectoplasms, etc? All those are used in making ascended items.

Any material that sells for a lot, really. Is there any non-complicated way, streamlined way of getting them? Like, do a specific dungeon or event that awards me ascended mats every time I do it. Or something. IDK.

IF there was a non-complicated, streamlined way to get them, everybody would do it and they wouldnt be worth much.

Alright, then, but my question still stands; minus the non-complicated part. Heck, any crafting mat that sells for a good amount will do.
When people are talking about “Ascended mats” to make gold, in this case, they’re likely referring to your time-gated crafting. Spiritwood Planks, Elonian Leather Squares, Deldrimor Steel Ingots and Bolts of Damask. Each of those items requires a component piece that can only be crafted once per day from basic T5 crafting materials (Elder Wood/Thick Leather/Mithril/Silk), coupled with a smattering of T2-T4 materials of the same kind.
So to ‘farm’ for those materials, you want to gather or buy enough of the T5 basic material to craft the time-gated item, then round that out with the 10-20 T2-T4 materials needed to craft the final, tradable product. You can do this by running around and gathering the materials yourself where applicable, or by buying them from the trading post to refine.
Basically, there are people now who are trying to craft precursors, build guild halls, and do various other things that require the time-gated Ascended materials, and some of these people are willing to pay premiums in gold to speed up the process. By using your time-gated daily crafting and selling them the finished products, the premium of gold they’re looking to spend goes your way. Eventually, once the rush dies down, the price of the materials should settle down, and by then you should have made a nice profit and can pursue your own goals at a more leisurely pace.

Alot of ressources farmed in lower level maps have seen a singificant rise in value since HoT.
