Which PC should i buy..
Well, i have the same prob running normally at average setting with 30 fps and at worldbosses with 6 or less… time for a new PC
Skilled Thiefs are dangerous
well issue is, what’s your budget
well issue is, what’s your budget
I wrote it on the post…less than $1,000.00
I would guess your budget would be giving you 12-18 FPS at world bosses. but would up your FPS to 55-80 in PvE open world, on high settings. if you’d build it yourself
I would guess your budget would be giving you 10-15 FPS at world bosses. but would up your FPS to 44-64 in PvE open world, on high settings. if you’d buy it
Been There, Done That & Will do it again…except maybe world completion.

Except that’s not true at all. I really wonder how you pulled those numbers.. If you buy one prebuilt you’re going to get a lot worse than that, and if you build one yourself you will get a lot higher than that.
@OP, I took a look around amazon and they sell only absolute garbage for prices. Most PC’s I saw there for around a 1000 bucks had really low end GPUs and barely mid range CPUs, which will run GW2 barely better than your laptop does.
Just build it yourself, honestly, even though “build” makes it sound difficult, it is actually really easy and simple to do, assuming you know how to hold a screwdriver.
If you build one for a 1000 you can get one that crushes anything you throw at it.
If you want simplicity, look at something like Newegg (hey its the only US store I know lol) and the maybe $500-600 “ready made” machines. Basicly you only look at the core part – a good i5 or i7. Most of them come with enough ram, probably good enough PSU and stuff like that. But make sure its without a graphics card!. Buy that yourself separately. Most ready made machines have kitten cards thrown in. Like, there is a $980ish or something machine there which sound good, even with a GTX970… and when you look at it closer its the low profile card. What?! Why?!?! Its a freaking full ATX tower and they picked that, sigh. The harddrive they come with is also irrelevant – buy a 256gb SSD and use as main OS and prefered game drive. Use a larger platter disc if you want more space cheaply. Or do it like me, dont tolerate them anymore and get more SSDs lol.
If you want a good modern machine built in a decent mATX case you have to build it yourself though. All the ready made PCs are built with ATX fulltower flashiness in mind (I saw a “military” camouflaged machine in there, uuuuuuugh). But it’ll probably reach $1500 or higher.
GW2 is highly CPU-dependent. So, morden PC with overclocked (>4-4,5Ghz) Core i5, then 8Gb RAM, good perfomance SSD and medium priced morden graphics card (may be GTX960, GTX970)
I really hate to recommend a prebuilt, but atm there is a 30% off sale (code: 30SPRING) at HP. So it makes it tolerable when you can get an i7-4790k and a gtx 980 in one for about 1k.
you should buy all the parts and put it together…is not rocket science and youll save a lot of money and be able to upgrade it yourself in the future. check out youtube guides for building a pc and youll see is not that difficult. if you do decide to build one yourself. I or others would be more than happy to help with the parts you need.
Don’t buy. Build.
I knew jack squat about building computers, and put together a solid one with much less research than I expected. It’s like building a lego house. (And about 5 mins of open heart surgery fright for the CPU.)
Now I’m comfortable playing around in computer guts.
If you want part reviews, I’m your guy.

I used to think (build op, pls nerf) like you, but then I took a nerf to the knee.
You should look at a i-5 or i-7 with a minimum of 8 gigs of ram. They run around $600 and up. GTX 550 to graphics card runs around $120 and lower. I run a i-5 3330 while 8 gigs of ram with the GTX 550 ti. I have no problems at boss fights and other large world events. Check Amazon or local builders for some ideas. It is pretty easy to build a computer. OS is another story. I run Windows 10. No issues with gaming as far as I can see.
I’m getting ~40 fps at max settings (1680×1050 due to monitors) on a nehalem i7 920, with 6gb of ram and a gtx295. If i can get there on a 6yo pc, then a modern one should be able to do much better at far below $1000.

yeah no, you do not get 40 fps with that build. I get 40 fps when maxing everything and I’m on a it 4670-R9 290. Unless you’re not running ultra shadows + supersampling, in which case I’d still say you’re exaggerating.
no supersampling and i have the terrain LOD distance at low, but everything else is at highest (yes, ultra shadows too).
no clue what my fps is with sweetfx/gemfx though. every time i tried either the game wouldn’t even run.

if your in the united states go to ibuypower.com buy the best one you can afford and you will be fine yes you spend more for the performance then building it yourself but lots of people don’t feel they can build their own machines
good luck

Definitely do not do this. iBuyPower (and CyberPowerPC) are two sites that you want to avoid. If you’re going to get a prebuilt, go to eCollegePC.com and get a custom build from them (this page).
Probably: CPU: i5-4590
Stock heatsink
ASUS H81M-D PLUS mobo
8 GB of ram (2x 4 GB) ($76 one)
1 TB Western Digital Blue ($57 one)
4 GB GTX 970
Whatever case you want, just please don’t get that basic one because it’s ugly as everliving hell
600watt Corsair CX600 PSU
And leave everything else how it was.
You really should just build your own, though. You get way, way more for your money. I’d suggest something like this.
EGVA SuperNOVA B2 750W | 16 GB DDR3 1600 | Acer XG270HU | Win 10×64
MX Brown Quickfire XT | Commander Shaussman [AGNY]- Fort Aspenwood

plus one to you.
Again, build your own. Ibuypower and cyberpower are good sites for part reference, but dont let them put together a desktop for you unless you’re willing to take it apart yourself and look after loose connections, weird wiring and the like.

I forgot to mention that neither of those computers included a copy of Windows. Head over to /r/microsoftsoftwareswap and you can pick one up for $15-20, which you can then upgrade to Windows 10 if you so desire.

Going to quote myself as I’ve seen much lesser systems for about the same price getting +1, which doesn’t make much sense. I’ll even add the link: http://slickdeals.net/f/7774825-hp-envy-phoenix-desktop-i7-4790-8gb-ddr3-4gb-gtx-980-1089-free-shipping

I’d say go for this, although you’ll most likely want to replace the PSU asap, which will run you another $80-100. Also, (assuming you don’t have a KB/M since you’re using a laptop), getting a decent mechanical keyboard and a good mouse would also be smart things to do.
