Which Title Do You Display? and Why?
I generaly run either ‘dungeoneer’, either of the two raid ones or something really easy to get like ‘combat healer’ to contrast with my ghostly infusion or gold fractal weapons or something like because I think it’s funny.
I pick the one that fits the RP persona of the character. I’d have to go in game to say which alts have which titles. I think Donari has Acclaimed Achiever right now, though, as he is such a limelight stealing egotist (he also uses Golden, Sunbringer, and The Be All and End All). Whereas his sister is using Respected Achiever, and my human guardian with a hobby of whittling small sculptures is Master Carver. I tossed Combat Healer on my druid when setting her up for raids. That sort of thing.
What’s coveted? By me, it’s something that really describes a character, that fits them so well my RP buddies go “ha, PERFECT” when it’s put on my character. I don’t give a flying fig if it’s rare or prestigious, so long as it fits the personality.

I keep changing whenever I think about to something that seems weird like Pumpkin Carver or Guild Warrior or whatever fits my funny bone at the time.
Depends on the char. I usually try to pick one that’s relevant in some way. My Mesmer has the GWAMM title because it’s the namesake of my Guild Wars 1 char and my Ranger has the Been There Done That title because he was the first to get 100% map. After that, whatever feels right for it, such as Mercenary for my Warrior or Master Carver for my Thief.
ANet may give it to you.
I use whichever I’ve most recently unlocked, which tends to be a PvP title since I played a lot of PvE before I started any PvP at all, so I already had most of the PvE ones unlocked. The only exception to this is that it felt odd to put ‘Killer Queen’ on my male charr, so I skipped that one. If I ever build a female charr she may wear that one permanently . . .
I really wanted a title back when I first started and I didn’t have any, but once I started unlocking them I pretty much stopped caring about them. I remember I liked getting Combat Healer bc it was my first one, and I liked getting ‘Golden’ bc it was actually pretty hard to save up 200g back then. There was one other recently that I was sad to change from when I got a new one, but I don’t even remember what it was now . . .
“Fashion Collector”
- Because I’ve collected a lot of skins and spend a lot of time formulating various looks for my many characters. It is also kind of an advertisement to others that, if they like the way my character looks, I’m happy to give ideas for or comments on their own character appearance if they ask me (and some players do). I enjoy it.

WvW player with “The Eternal”. I spent about 5 weeks playing raids with my secondary guild and had a blast goofing around and clearing the wings. My WvW guild laughs at me and calls me an “Elite Game Master” because I have the title. Its all in good fun.
Mercenary
My guild name “Mercenary of Brightshadow” says it all.
No other title fit my toon more.
I usually display dungeoneer just because of the ridiculous amount of dungeons you have to run to get it (or an equally ridiculous amount of pvp). I see very few people with that title so I use it so people notice my character more.
Another one I display is veteran of the mists. The one for completing the meta-achievement for the first wvw tournament. This is another title I see very few people with, probably because the event itself was about 2 years ago and the title required a lot of work.
I also use the blazing light sometimes because I an very proud of my achievement to actually defeat liadri (took me about 30 tries). Can’t wait for crown pavilion to return, hopefully with new boss fights.
PvE- Grolex (Warrior)
PvP rank: 20 Rating: 1864 (season 7)
Each of my characters displays different titles based on their “personality”.
Even though Thrist, my ranger main, has done everything in the game, he modestly assumes the title traveler, because that’s how he seems himself.
On the other hand Torin Kaoz uses the title God Walking Among Mere Mortals.
I see it as another form of customizing my character, besides just appearance and what he wears. Even wings and minipets and finishers work that way for me.
I have a bunch of toons and each gets a different title, usually something appropriate to race, class, name, or whimsy.
I don’t really like how titles look (or even guild tags), so I very rarely use any. I’m a lowbie anyway, I have maybe… 10 of them.
I like Traveler, with storage guild that I tagged [Time]. Now that I don’t have to worry about guild influence going all messy I could use the combo sometimes.
There’s no other reason to use titles for me.
I generally choose random ones, but on one character I use “Apprentice Toymaker” because my grandfather was a toymaker
Fatebreaker
I stumbled upon the achievement when it was relatively new and knew I was soon going to waste a lot of money on a title. Cuz its cool.
But theoretically, if another title is more fitting to the personality or concept of a character, I would use that one.
Veteran of the Mists, because I imagine many people that bothered to put in the work for it quit after they got shafted on the reward with 5 mithril and a green for ~75 hours of work.
Traveler.
I get around a lot. Legit.
Tarnished Coast Server
In WvW I use the champion title that fits the class I’m playing.
In PvP it’s Yakslapper.
For one toon who’s dressed like a king I got “The Emperor”.
….. And Elementalist.
I usually pick one to suit the character or the activity they’re doing.
For example my engineer is currently wearing Master Crafter because she’s camped in Hoelbrak making Spiritwood planks. My revenant uses Mist Treader or Mist Runner because it fits his theme. I’ll switch him to Veteran of the Mists when he gets to level 80. My main character usually uses The Blazing Light, because I still haven’t gotten around to getting Light in the Darkness which would be perfect for her.
But sometimes I’ll swap it to one I find fun, just for the sake of it. Like Honors in Applied Jumping or Apprentice Toymaker. (Which means I’m perpetually disappointed that the Wurmicidal Maniac achievement doesn’t have that as a title.)
Occasionally I’ll use it to show something about me or my account instead. For example I made a new mesmer the day before Play For Free launched, so I put her in HoM armour dyed abyss and celestial and used the 3rd birthday title to accompany the mentor tag to try and show I wasn’t new and could help other people out. (I was worried I was going overboard but I still had some people assuming I was on a free account and had been playing for less than a day.)
The one thing I don’t do is pick titles to show off how I got them, because honestly I very rarely remember. And the ones I do remember aren’t particularly impressive, like Master Carver. I’d have to look my titles up on the Wiki to find out where they came from in order to choose one I imagine might be impressive. And I’d much rather just pick out which sounds right.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
My first legendary was The Flameseeker Prophecies, so the title I gave my Guardian was “Flameseeker”, despite the fact that there are many more impressive titles out there.
Even though I don’t use shield so much on Guardian any more I’ve kept that title active. I like it.
At the moment, Light in the Darkness, because the name is cool and fits my main character’s background (a thief raised in the streets of Divinity’s Reach who became the commander of the pact), and because it’s semi-hard to obtain, as opposed to many “free” titles (not the rarest title, for sure, but some of those master rewards were kinda challenging).
There are very few titles that have value in my opinion.
The closest one for me would probably be “The Blazing Light”, which I have on most of my characters. Unfortunately you could cheeze Liadri at some point and kill her with lifesteal, but most people with that title show off at least some degree of skill. What I like the most about Queen’s Gauntlet is that nobody could help you, you had to do everything on your own.
Some other titles (like the raid ones) are harder and definitely take more skill to achieve if you do them the intended way, but unfortunately people have been able to buy runs or get carried through and so these titles have lost value as well. There is basically no title at all in GW2 that says anything about your individual skill, everything is possible to buy if you have enough gold.
If I’m ever able to get some prestigious GW1 titles, I would probably wear those. Just like anything else they can be cheezed or bought, but I just like them.
I have a dream that one day, Anet will add a title that is challenging to get and cannot be bought from other people. Something like Queen’s Gauntlet, except a bit harder and free of any exploitable bugs.
The Eternal or Closer to the Stars. Just preference. Never had the stomach for GWAMMy but love that arenanet gave players the ability to transfer titles from GW1.
Still not a lot which beats GWAMM in my opinion, though yackslapper and some of the other more insane titles certainly come close.
My main runs with “Legend of the Mists” As it is the highest title I have from GW1. I don’t see many people with it, if any, and from Time to time I get whispers asking how to get it.

Combat Healer, so people I pug with know to hug me =)
GW1 titles are the best titles! I don’t have GWAMM but I do have all the others. Legend of the Mists and Flameseeker are personal favorites!
Generally I use what I feel “fits” the character’s personality, though not always. Sometime’s what I display is a tribute to other things.
Lanfear displays GWAMM for the character which she is named after (and earned the title originally) and in tribute to the years spent in GW1. Of course, she’s also a bit arrogant and self-centered.
Iylla uses “Chosen.” She’s a mesmer, that should explain everything really.
Not sure who else has what off the top of my head.
I like using “Twice-Told Legend” just because it cost me so much to get. Plus it’s one you don’t see too often.

I use one that fits the character – except on my main, on whom I use Fashion Collector, because it fits me as a player.
My elementalist, Flameseeker, because I burn things, I burn everything, with flames, so I seek flames to burn with— Flameseeker. Sizzle.

Female Asura were born to be Yakslappers, but the title fits most everyone, because afterall, who doesn’t enjoy slapping a yak now and then and again and again and again.
[HaHa] Hazardous Hallucination
Killer Queen is the one I use because I love the song “Killer Queen”.
Killer Queen is the one I use because I love the song “Killer Queen”.
That’s the title I see most commonly these days. In particular, I see a LOT of Human/Norn females with it, but I digress.
I just have “The Tormentor” on my character(s). No reason for it really though. I kinda just pick a title from the list, that being the latest.
Slippery Slubling
Surprisingly, this is one of the more common titles I see. It’s the Twilight/Sunrise/Eternity of titles.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
The Magnanimous because most of my characters are Asura and magnanimous is a nice, big chunky word for a little character.
I have “The Eternal” because it sounds the coolest, kinda. But as a Druid main, I REALLY wish I had the title “Closer to the Stars”. However, that requires HoM rewards, and I don’t even own (or really want to play) Gw1. So I’m stuff outa luck :P
I have many characters so I use a different one on each.
The one I use on my RP character is Mercenary, since that’s what she is when she’s IC (In-Character).
I also like Closer to the Stars which I use on my main PvE/Storyline character.
it depends on the character; i generally have somewhat detailed personalities picked out and all for each character(I don’t RP, though I guess it’d be cool, I just don’t have a life), so i go from there. for example, my thief is going to have either “the be-all and the end-all” or “been there, done that” because she’s somewhat very conceited and snarky.
