Which class is your main?
engineer. I make things splode.
My main is my thief. I enjoy the high risk high reward style of gameplay. He also does best for my style of gameplay in wvw. For PVE I usually prefer my Mesmer just because it’s fun to play a different class and people are generally happy to see me vs when they see if a thief in their dungeon group

elementalist. I love the versatility.
Ranger and Engineer, what can i say i’m a sucker for punishment…
Ranger. It’s the one I have most fun playing and therefore want to play most often.
For me being the main character just means she’s the first priority for gear (for example my others won’t get any Ascended items from laurels until she’s got all the ones she’ll need). It makes sense that the best gear goes to the one I’ll be playing most (and most likely to do high level content on).
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
Thief. Everything else is just too slow, and no other class gives me the feeling that I have to actually try or else I’m ettin food. That and the combat is far more rewarding to pull off than any other class.
My main right now is a Thief with a build that no one would usually roll. I have fun with it though but I won’t be using it if I ever want to join a party for serious stuff where rolling the best build is important for the teams sake.
My other is a Guardian great sword and I am taking a break from it because the combat seems to repetitive (5,5,4,3,2).
Thief. I’m just too hooked on the aesthetics of P/D. Tuck, roll, shoot, I’m a Sylvari action hero!
Nanuchka, norn mesmer: “BOOZEAHOL!”
Tarnished Coast – Still Here, El Guapo!

I have a thief relativley high and i can definatly agree with this however the mesmer (my main) has a noticable skill floor too, once everything starts clicking gets so much better.
Elementalist, from GW1 to GW2. I just enjoy the class. I’m fun, versatile, and I can set people ablaze. I see no downside, hehe.
Thief. Go big or go home.
Used to be necro.. r.i.p. necro.. guardian now
I have leveled several classes to 80 and the Ranger just “clicked” with me the most. Getting into the class was easy, but mastering it seems to be one of the most difficult in the game. Only one I would put above it is engi, and necro is in there somewhere too.
The shortbow on the Ranger is one of my favorite weapon designs in any game I have played, and the maul animation on an Asura is always “awwwwww!” then “ouch!”
eta: I almost exclusively play WvW.

I have different mains for different purposes. My mesmer is the main I run dungeons with. My ranger is my open world main, who I also do guild missions with. And my engineer is my PvP/WvW main.
I have a bunch of other characters I play around with two, but those three are my mains.
Four 80’s (Warrior, Guardian, Necro, Ranger), will be making a fifth next weekend (probably a Thief) after I gather all the mats I need. No main, all played pretty much equally. Honestly, I see no reason to have a “main” in this game since you can level from scratch, and gear up, in a matter of a couple days.
Thief, sylvari thief, as per my signature
engineer. I make things splode.
^this
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Human Thief, Canthan lineage just like GW2 was supposed to have. Plus Thief is super action oriented and fun to play.
Engineer, cause i’m masochistic
Asura Mesmer. My buddies don’t have the patience to level one, so I enjoy being able to bring something unique to our team dynamic. And I chose Asura because I love their animations!
I recently finished leveling a Warrior that focuses on bleeds, and that’s been a really fun change of pace, so I’ve been playing the two evenly lately.
Gemini Man (Mesmer) / Knight Man (Guardian)

+1
This also lessens the impact of nerfs. The only real negative is in wvw where you end up spreading out the level points
Engineer, because flamethrower and grenades and other kits drew me in when I first created a character.
And I’m counting on that future expansions will most likely include more awesome kits like a minigun or chainsaw or something
Either my Mesmer, or my newly made Guardian.
I love my mesmer with the clones and illusions and everything. But i also love just surviving and keeping up dungeon and zerg alive with buff and being able to stay alive a long time myself. Just generally makes you feel really usefull and unmissable. Make the game that much more enjoyable.
Guardian! All day, every day. Has something of everything. Plus..freaking blue flame! <3

This is true, thankfully WvW skill are NOT DAoC Realm Ability’s. There are no “must have” world skills that put you significantly behind the power curve if you do not have them, and a WvW Rank 100 does not walk all over a Rank 10 simply due to WvW skills like a RR10 would do to a RR1 in DAoC.
Ranger – have tried all, most to 80, this is the class that fits my need to be able to multitask.
PvE and WvW
I main different professions for different aspects of the game.
For dungeons – Guardian
For WvW – Ranger
For PvP/Open world stuff – Ele
Xylani – 80 Ranger | Osoroshii – 80 Warrior
