Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen a lot of different kinds of reward-rich farming, for example:

  • Champion farming (I believe Frostgorge sound is popular right now),
  • Invasion farming
  • Deadeye farming (RIP)
  • Queen’s Gauntlet bottom floor zerg farming (RIP, more or less)
  • CoF (RIP)
  • etc.

Ignoring profitability, which do/did you enjoy gameplay-wise the most? Perhaps we can give Anet some indication of which types of farms we would prefer playing?

Personally, I farmed Deadeye with my own build (Necro, very sub-optimal) and I found it really fun farming while tweaking the build to be better and better.

(I find the invasion and QG bottom floor zerging really really tedious; never did CoF; and haven’t done any Champ farming)

Enjoy? Repeating something over and over and over again? I don’t enjoy any. I just need the money and I do what’s currently most profitable about twice a day for 1h or maybe 2h.

I doubt anyone really enjoys farming/grinding.

I enjoy dungeons and fractas (fractals get boring quickly too). But even that is starting to get boring. No new permanent dungeons after one year since release. It’s a shame.

Yeah… maybe I should say it this way:

out of all the super-profitable farming methods, which do you hate the least?
… or do you find them all equally unenjoyable (certainly a valid answer!)?

I want all of it, and then some.

More areas of the game should be like that and it shouldn’t just be removed like the gauntlet farming, nerfed maybe since it sounded too good. They should’ve just balanced the risk vs reward and given it a healthy daily amount.

If you could make good profit doing ANYTHING in the game, the game would be 100000000000000000x better.

The only Farm I’ve enjoyed was Ember farming. It was exciting, team work required, more loot for knowing game mechanics, danger, trolling anti-farmers, the moments when 2 champ wizards or 3 champ jesters appeared….

It also had a nice variety of loot too, not just gold or one particular drop.

The 5-10 minute turn around was just enough to sell up, store stuff and find a group.

Perfect

R.I.P. 10 minute ember farm

I find farming enjoying.

In ranking the most favorite to least

-anchorage/ember
-invasion
-FGS
-Cof
-Gauntlet/Pavillion

-anchorage/ember was the best simply because it’s loaded with champs, you have a high kill rate/hour and all the mobs are +80.
-Gauntlet/Pavillion is a terrible farm considering the champs there are buffed massively and take much longer to kill than static champs. And the mobs there don’t drop good loot.

Ignoring profitability? None of them. :P At all. Even Orr mat gathering gets hard for me to keep completing.. I’m just not good with repetitious stuff in general.

I suppose if I had to choose, I’d rather do solo gauntlet farming. I did that for an hour on Ragemaw on my necro. It didn’t feel as frantic or mindnumbing as champ farming or these invasions. I knew I’d get my rewards, could take a breather whenever and wasn’t constantly having to be like “Where’s the champ? Where’s the champ? Oh there it is.. MUST TAG, MUST TAG, oh there’s another one, TAG, frantically TAG!!!111”

I particularly like Farming Simulator 2013. I find it’s the best choice if you feel like farming.

I can’t think of a more unimaginative, uninspired way to spend the time I do have to play than farming. It just goes to show that people are perfectly fine with tedious and mind numbing rng so long as they can pull the handle and take another hit off the wheel of fortune. Sad day that people have been conditioned now to accept status quo as entertainment and it is so far from what Anet’s manifesto spoke of that I can’t help but feel lost.

Most of the non farming gaming experience in this game is below par, unimaginative, uninspired and really rather tedious if I’m being honest.

I enjoy it. It gives me money, which in turn, gives me stuff I want, which in turns, makes me happy in-game.

@OP:

-I like farming (and finishing) the Invasion – it shows tons of people “working together”. Makes me feel GW2 is a true MMO, given that I live halfway across ’Murica

That is precisely my point, everything in this game is farm related including the dungeons. Once the shiny surface fades you realize that all that is left in this game is just collection activity which they use as a carrot on a stick by time gating, or overly inflating the amount of any particular item needed to make something. It’s a shallow experience and for as much as they tried to tout innovation it really isn’t, they are just better at making people think they are doing things differently not that they actually are. I do at least enjoy sPvP and solo roaming in WvW so those are things that hold me here, but from a pve perspective this game is just subpar at best in my opinion (better throw that opinion part in since I am not trying to make a claim to fact).

I enjoy most farms.

Activity wise, I prefer Invasion, but I am not able to get the champ boxes I want from them, and there is a timer in between invasions that will increase after the event is over, soo.

- Invasion
- FGS
-gauntlet bottom floor

Stop hating on farming! It is the essence of Gw2 and it is easy to understand unlike complicated raid mechanics in other games.. repetition like farming is familiar and a good thing as more and more is implemented, Arena Net are geniuses!!!

I don’t really get the point of the question, as there are no decent farms in this game currently other than the Clockwork Chaos events, which are temporary.

Yeah, I agree (sadly).

Outside of trying to solo dungeons, spvp and the Liadri stuff, I find the gameplay/content of the game actually pretty bad/poor.

It really does seem to be a chase the shiny zerg grinder with zero real dynamism and subpar content (in both a pve and pvp context).

I’ll qualify that in a similar manner, that is just my opinion ofc.

Sidenote: Technically, I don’t view invasions as farming even though it’s an activity I do partly to get loot, for the same reason I wouldn’t view doing a dungeon over and over for a specific weapon set/armor set as farming. (but I did view cof 1 as farming) Well, it’s all semantics I guess. /shrug.

I do it for both the activity and loot. If the activity was lost, and loot magically appeared in my inven, I wouldn’t enjoy it as much, vice versa as well. If the activity remained, and there was no loot, I would no longer enjoy it.

If there were no decent loot drops from the zerg events, no one would do them. They are, by nature, repetitive and boring. It’s the farming aspect to them that make players get out there and play them repeatedly once they’ve done it once or twice to see it and hang out with other players initially.

Since the game was released, the farm i enjoyed the most (by faaaaaaar) was CM story xp (before this was nerfed of course, as everything else in this freaking game) farm. these were the times i enjoyed gw2 as much if not more than gw1. Since, not a single farm in this game felt rewarding or fun.

Fact: every Thief tells you to “l2p” when the subject is to nerf stealth.

I actually found the Crown Pavilion’s six bosses spawning in pairs to be a pleasant and relaxing farm. I could just go down there and chill for an hour or two, walk away with a few lodestones from the destroyers, and have plenty of time in the gaps to manage my bag space.

I enjoy the Queensdale train, but only because I tend to run that train, calling out champs and generally getting and staying one step ahead of all 6 timers (yes, the non-event spider too).

Prior to the champ loot, I was fond of harvesting my way across Orr – again pretty relaxed and more of a memory puzzle predicting where the big nodes would be than any sort of major monster grinding festival.
