Which gathering axe should I buy?
I think all infinite axe work the same so it just depend on which one you like look the most.
well i heard some had slower animations than others
All gathering tools take the same amount of time to complete their animation. So, no one gathering tool is better than the other, with the exception of the Watchwork Mining Pick for ore (which is better because of sprockets).
Is there any point in doing a sets for them? On the wiki it says there is a set for each.

I believe there is an exception. The Consortium gathering tool is much quicker than the halloween or golem in a bucket one. Although these aren’t axes, there is precedent for differing animation times.

Sets exist for completionism only. For example, I got all 3 flame ones for my ele since it made sense for his theme.
Again, I’m getting the bone minion ones for my necro (just need the pick when it reurns) to complete his “theme”.
There is no other reason for sets
The bone pick was available either during or just after the anniversary sale.
Some of the tools are definitely different speeds.
For example the consortium sickle is definitely faster than average.
I think the frost wasp is a bit faster, and I hear gives snowflakes when you chop stuff with it, but dont have so they could have been pulling my leg.
And the watchwork pick gives sprockets, no reason to own any other pick.
There is absolutely no evidence to support that it would.” -AnthonyOrdon
Was looking at chop it all, or fused. Which one would u suggest?
They are identical in purpose, but fused has better animations imo

AM definitely preferring chop it all. Fused seems like it would burn the wood you’re trying to chop.
Plus, chop it all logging, fused mining and consortium sickle are the starter set, the first t(h)ree harvesting tools ever introduced!

Going to make this super simple, as of today if you could only purchase ONE of each:
Mining: Watchwork Mining Pick – Same speed as all the others BUT drops watchwork sprockets which hilariously sell on the trading post for more than any of the actual ores. This tool will pay for itself.
Harvesting: Consortium Harvesting Sickle – IMMEDIATELY noticeable that it is faster than the normal harvesting animation. To say otherwise is just crazy.
Logging: All are the same speed now, but in the past was not the case due to a bug. Personally I bought the Frost Wasp (which was fixed). The reason why some players might think it’s faster is because there is no awkward aftercast animation of you pulling an axe back (there is no axe)

If i remember correctly, due to changed animation the first harvesting tool (consortium sickle) is slightly faster. Beyond that and the watchwork pick, however, there are no better or worse tools
Remember, remember, 15th of November
Yes, the Consortium one is faster. My bad, I forgot about that one. But yeah, all the others have the same cast time.
I have all of the picks, plus 3 watchwork picks.
My favorite is the Mine R Tron because it makes me feel powerful to summon a litte bot to do the work for me.
Second favorite is the Mad Scientist Pick which is perfect for my Engineer in Magitech Armor.
Everyone says to get the Watchwork pick and you should probably have one, but I just find that I enjoy the variety and some of the more amusing animations more than I care about a few sprockets here and there.
I want to be rich enough that I’m not putting such utilitarian, penny-pinching concerns ahead of what I find enjoyable.
I’ve noticed that while the Thresher Sickle 5000 has an animation duration as long as any harvesting sickle, it gives you the plant before the animation completes. Using that as my harvesting sickle, I typically cancel the animation as soon as the item shows up in my inventory and move on. All of the limited-use sickles I’ve tried don’t give you the item until the animation fully completes.
