I can get one of the infinite tools, which one is worth it the most? I guess it depends on what crafts I am going to be doing and if so which crafts should I take up?

Or I could get jobotron backpack

Personally since I like that character I have the R-tron models. They say something from time to time BUT they dont give you anything special other than being infinite.

Watchwork pick is most worth out of them all.

Gives sprocket chance per hit on nodes, each sprocket is 3s. (usually makes mining profit from mith/copper double at least)

Watchwork is the only one that gives a bonus — sprockets — so other than that, pick one you like or which complements a character (ie, necromancer).

If you are talking about the Gem Shop Gathering Tools first unless you are going by theme, there is not connection to crafting. And if you are picking one for the first time I would pick the Watchwork Pick simply due to it’s additional income generation.

Thanks everyone, is there a known chance (like %) for the sprocket occurring?

Like 20%? It happens frequently enough to be noticeable.

You can get as many as one per hit or as little as none per node, though not getting at least one a node is rare

Tarnished Coast Kal Spiro – Ranger (80), LB/S-D, Eagle/Wolf, Signet, M/S/WS #SABorRiot

Wiki says 20%. Warning however, you may develop a overwhelming desire to get every last ore node that pops up on your mini-map.

I try and put the tools with a certain theme on characters which go well with the theme.

IE:
Fused harvesting equipment go on my fire-themed warrior charr.

The watchwork mining pick would be the only exception since you get sprockets for gathering, so it would be the best pick if you aren’t trying to match themes.

It’s easily watchwork because it’s the only tool that adds loot to the table.

I own the Molten pick which is absolutely inferior to the Watchwork pick due to the the worst design philosophy implemented by Anet to date. Only 1 pick gives extra loot and yields the equivalent of Ori from any node.

All picks should drop sprockets or none should.

Good point. However I’d say that all picks should drop something that fits in the theme of the item. The molten alliance minig pick could drop molten/destroyer slivers, bone pick could drop tier 1 to tier 6 bones based on the node and so on. Maybe this idea would be a bit overkill, but doing it in a balanced way would make sense.

Which node is the most common though? Mining, harvesting or logging? And which one would make me the most money if I could only get 1?

After watchwork pick the consortium or molten alliance sickles are the one
that have at least some kind of bonus, since you can haevest herbs faster
with them. You can also not beeing interrupted.

Mining and logging .. mining with watchwork pick mostly makes you the most
money .. however at the moment T3 wood is high in price so that is also very nice.

EVERY MMO is awesome until it is released then its unfinished. A month after release it just sucks.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
