Q:
Which is better: +10 exp or +10% exp?
A:
Provided they work as stated, then 10% by far, once you get to a level where you get more than 100 xp per kill.
10% obviously. Lets say you kill something that’s worth 500 exp… +50 bonus exp as opposed to 10.
The +10 exp stuff is more useful at lower levels. If you’re farming, you should also be looking at food that gives you a MF bonus.
Thanks. The only question I have is that sometimes when killing yellow mobs that had max bonus xp, with only the +10 exp boost, it would increase the amount substantially. Seemingly a lot more than just 10. I haven’t experienced with the 10% though.
As far as I know ALL the +10 exp food are actually +10% and it’s just wrong description. Having tested a bunch of them they clearly increase the base exp by 10%, no matter if the 10% is more or less than 10 points.

If this is the case, filling out a bug report on it wouldn’t be a bad idea. I think there’s a section in UI for spelling errors.

Take a look at what you are killing and the experience you are getting. 10 exp is better for any mob that gives 90 exp (10 being better than 10% of 90 which is only 9) but as mentioned, when you get to mobs that give 110 exp or higher, then +10% exp is better (mob gives 1000 exp, with +10% you would get an extra 100 compared to just a flat rate of +10)

This is the case and I have reported it during beta, then again a month later as it wasn’t fixed.
10% definitely. Percentage goes higher as the base value goes higher, so it will always win. (Well, most of the time.)
I’m quite sure that the “+10” on many foods is really “+10%”. The test is simple: go to a lowbie zone, kill an L2 monster, eat food with a “+10”, and then kill another L2 monster of the same type. I usually get about 6 (ignoring bonuses) before food and 7 with food. Clearly not “+10”. And yes, I bugged this in both beta and release.
