So now that we have 3 maps that have unbound magic, which have you found provides the fastest acquisition of UM per hour?

Currently (before the inevitable nerf it) you can farm ~70 Winter berries per character from just doing the daily nodes and hearts. They in turn can be broken down in Unbound magic at about 30 – 50 per berry.

How about without salvaging?

Salvaging bloodstone crystals or berries will always be the fastest way … but if you dont want to salvage I would say its Bloodstone Fen due to the amount of unbound magic you can get from gliding from the airship.

Also berries aren’t salvaged. You only have to double click them to break down. But yes, Bloodstone Fen has by far the most raw unbound magic, though events in the new map are very easy and quick to do. So because of its current popularity, it may be the best still.

I total an average of 54 berries per gathering only in the new bitter frost map.
Haven’t used them up so I’m not sure how much UM you can get but as far as I know it’s the fastest way to acquire UM.

Runs take me around 5 mins per toon. Managed to get 1k+ berries last night; super worth it! You even get UM just from gathering.

There’s also a lot of Unbound Magic underwater in Bitterfrost Frontier, and they seem to respawn quite quickly.

Even without breaking down the Winterberries, I think you acquire some Unbound Magic just from gathering them. But I could be mistaken, as I often have the Unbound Magic tools equipped.

If you don’t want to salvage, then go to Bloodstone Fen, and do the goggles. Change map instance or character and repeat. It’s the faster way to get purple orbs.

what tools?

You can get gathering tools in Embry bay that when used grant unbound magic per use. This will give unbound magic even when gathering off other resource node types.

You can purchase them in Bitterfrost Frontier, as well.

Bitterfrost is easily the best place to farm UM atm. Not only can you farm berries on alts, but each chest you open yields 15-20 um. There are perhaps 1-2 dozen chests, not to mention the um you get from the events, which there are many.

I got 10k um for the housing berry node in about 1-2 days of casual playing (I didn’t salvage any berries to get that amount either). No way can you get that in the other 2 zones.

If you hit all the rich ore nodes and farms in Central Tyria, then the unbound magic gathering tools will usually exceed the income rate of any map, because the rate of harvesting is flat while events and orbs come by time and luck ..

There’s also no DR with harvesting.

I personally found bloodstone fen to be the easiest/fastest source of unbound magic. And you can mine the bloodstone crystals there. You can glide down from the ship and from the diving googles for a good load of unbound magic bubbles
