Elementalists have always had one, a utility called Arcane Blast. 1500 range and guaranteed crit. It’s a winner.

It still boggles my mind that I can trait out my Engie and he will be able to throw grenades to 1500 range, but if I trait out rifles I can only shoot to 1200 range.

Shadow Trap has 10000 range. Oh wait, it’s not an attack..
Btw Rangers have to get a trait to achieve 1500 range on LB(And Harpoon Gun?).
How about Warrior’s Rifle Burst skill? I think that one has 1500 range.

Probably Necro Staff 1 autoattack. Tooltip doesn’t say 1500 range, but if you manually spam the attack, the projectiles still keep going.

I always think of asura as having a sort of magitek exoskeleton that allows them to fight on an even playing field with any other race. Heroes just ended up inventing them and keeping them to themselves :p

But my Engi cannot hit jormag or his ice wall with 1200 traited Rifle but my ranger with short bow in the same spot can hit both easily, it also claims 1200 range?

The grenades are equipped with mini-turbo rockets. It’s an asura thing.

Also it has probably the most damage per one shot. 10-17k crit with one bullet from 1500 range. ^^ (berserker)

I believe the difference is that arrows fly along a projectile path, allowing them to technically hit at slightly longer ranges than the rifle’s bullet, which flies straight and will flat out disappear after 1200 range.

Been running a grenade engi a few months, yeah he’s got some range
I don’t play him much, but when I do I usually defend towers in wvw or visit the occasional meta event. A wee bit too squishy for dungeons to my liking.

Even more OT, Claw of Jormag has several parts where it appears to be either bugged or inconsistent at least. For instance I can throw fireballs at twice the speed of a bazooka [Fire Missile] for the same damage as that pact weapon skill and no recharge time. Plus I can use Arcane Blast every 15 seconds and hit for the same amount again. The only problem is at this event, event though it’s by default, #1 skill has to be manually spammed. Auto-attack for some reason is disabled there, and I still can’t figure out why. Perhaps it’s the range, I don’t know. The range of the Fire Missile is 2000 if I’m not mistaken, and the Fireball is only 1200.

Don’t Warriors longbow go 1500 if traited?
Elementalist Fireball’s range, while listed at 1200, is only the maximum range at which the autoattack will function. The fireball arcs and hence, depending on positioning and camera angle, can go further. I believe the same also goes for Water Blast, but that’s less useful.

It’s the range. An attack will only function with auto-attack if the target’s within the listed range, even if the attack’s properties should make it possible to connect.
