Who is still waiting for "Guild Halls"

I raise both hands high and will keep them there. Until " " WARS 2 lives up to its name. Think of the possibilities people. If anything it would make the player community stronger and more dynamic.

There are many reasons to have guild halls, but making the community stronger is not one of them. If anything, they will make LA less populated and spread people further out. Hopefully by the time they do player/guild housing they have a LFG tool so it won’t matter that no one is around LA anymore.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
Guild Halls and housing is a great idea, but it’s not a game breaker for me. I’m certainly not gonna QQ if they never materialize.
Don’t know how they were in GW1, but I’m imagining a tab under the guild screen for getting there, guild trophy room, everything in the hall upgradeable/buildable from rare drops on guild missions, workshop with guild crafting stations, guild banker, guild BLTP liaison…
OH THE POSSIBILITES~~
PLEASE, ANET, PLEASE
Not realty here its just a room to stand in why would you need that? If i am going to be afk all day why be online? If i was going to minly events why not do it with ppl out side of your guild?

UNHEARD OF RIGHT. Guild halls in a game called “Guild Wars” most urealistic thing ever heard of. The Guild Halls in GW was IMO one of the most epic things in the game, we had our own merchants, runesmiths, armorers, weaponsmiths as well as many other things as well as the place for your guild to congregate and hold GUILD ONLY events and such. Totally useless.

guild halls allow players to have a place to get together. Housing is just a waste of server space.
I’ve been silently hoping since launch.
Guild halls in gw1 and city of heroes both were great. They were better in city of heroes.
There you had special crafting stations used to build guild upgrades, layouts players could design, down to building weapons and defenses and putting you home up as a place for enemy guilds to raid (I never got to do this as I was in a dead guild and then a solo guild, so I heard it worked great but only got to see the design side of it).
Guild v. Guild was a major feature of.. GUILD wars… we need the guild halls again though to do it.

No “Guild Wars” is about the story before GW1. You have all of this in the cities and as is ppl do not use the home cities most of the time. You can also as a guild call these work places if needed.
As for these “UNHEARD OF RIGHT” as you call them as a player you have no rights Anet give you the right they want to and can take them away as they feel needed. This is how all online games are even steam is like this.
Just because it was in the first GW game (an non mmorpg game) does not mean it will be in the 2ed GW game. You can make the argument that if something was in an older mmorpg it should be in all the newer mmorpgs too but its a very bad one. Every game is in it self its own game. There may be a tie with a story but its still its own game. If any thing we should be asking for something better then a guild hall not just a copy paste of an out dated game that was not even the same game type.

If indeed we get GvG down the road then I support guild halls. Battles on your own turf or opposing guilds turf is a good idea. Was a good idea for GW1 also.
Could be good for guild gatherings and such too. Why not?
Not sure what I would rather have though, player housing or guild halls.
If it were up to me, I would add a section to each map outside of Orr where there would be an instanced map with say, room for 20-50 guilds apiece. Make it sandboxey. You have to build them. You have to pay for upkeep. Basically you have to keep shrubbery down or you get overgrowth and deterioration and world creatures moving in, stuff like yellow or ambient creatures already seen.
As a guild you would pay for NPC’s that give discounts, but those NPC’s don’t work for free. They must make a wage or owe you favors. You could even have personal Guild Story Missions were you and guildies help Npc’s to gain them as workers and they become your NPC guild member.
If you were going to have GvG, you could have it in the largest halls, if your guild doesn’t own one of the largest you could rent one from another guild at a set cost.
So many things could be done to make something like this or any other ideas great. This is just off the top of my head. I’m sure someone with a better mind could come up with some really fantastic ideas for either, guild halls or player housing.
I would prefer both guild halls and player housing. It’d make me go from running around Tyria feeling like I have no home to actually feeling like I have a home in Tyria.

There is no such game named GW1, there was GW(Prophecies), GW(Factions), GW(Nightfall), they canceled GW(Utopia) and came out with GW(Eye of the North).

I, Doggie, am currently still waiting for Guild Halls.
I am waiting, but worried they will not be attainable by (very) small guilds. The guild missions are the reason I worry.
In a long list of things i’m waiting for, i guess guild halls are somewhere in it..
I, Serelisk, am currently waiting for Guild Halls.
i’m always waiting for new content.
guild halls in guild wars 2 included.
would be nice if other guilds can come and issue challenges etc.
i would prefer player housing instead of guild halls. In other games where guild halls were there,i never used it, i dont see the point of it
What the chicken said but with my name on it.
Like I tell my guildies, they have said it’s on the list, but it’s probably towards the bottom. They need to get all the bare bones of the game done, and flesh them out, before they start adding all the bells and whistles.
I’m not putting any hopes on getting them anytime soon. I’m personally thinking they will probably get released with the next expansion, since that would be an excellent advertisement for it.
Guild Wars 2
(Insert title here)
Now with Guild Halls and Player Housing!
BUY NOW!!!!
I am waiting for guild halls but I am also afraid they will be difficult for smaller guilds to obtain.
I am holding out for personal housing personally.
The way Guild Content has been handled so far makes me suspect that if Guild Halls ever came out it will once again exclude small guilds, so I couldn’t care less about it myself
Since I realise that many many people are eagerly awaiting GH though- it would be a good addition to the game, so I will add my vote to the count.
I just really hope that we will see player housing at the same time since it definitely serves a purpose.
I’ve been silently hoping since launch.
i tough GH was inclueded from start!

And yet most of those things were first added with Eye of the North. For the first 2 years, merely having a guild hall was a prohibitively expensive luxury, given the average 100k price for a celestial sigil. Mind you, that Guild Hall didn’t have a single NPC in it, and was primarily a PVP feature.
While I agree with guild halls, let’s agree to only have them when they were as epic as the final year of GW1. PVE-wise, we don’t need the very limited Guild Halls found in prophecies. I’m willing to wait for that.
Delayed content is eventually good. Rushed content is eternally bad. ~ Shigeru Miyamoto
If they were similar to the Bases in City of Heroes maybe. Free travel to certain locations in the world, access to bank, able to run Guild Hall vs Guild Hall events where you are attacking each others halls via portals etc.. Then yeah Guild Halls great.
If they are just a place to meet. Why bother.
Also other things need to be fixed first, Guild Roster, Alliances etc. At the moment I know my Guild Masters are having real issues managing a Guild with the tools in the game. You can’t even tell when someone last logged in.

Yes we can dream, but dreaming is all we will ever be doing.
ANet have stated time and time again that they have no intention of ever making Guild Halls. The market for cuddly backpacks is just too lucrative at the moment.
I still waiting for Guild Halls, and miss it so much (and my Guild).
As for housing, maybe it’s a good idea (I’m not sure yet) in case of saving the style of GW2 =)
Player housing is a lot higher on my wish list too than guild halls.
One reason might be that I don’t have a guild :P
I hope they add both some day so everyone will be satisfied.

Quote please.
Not only has Anet NEVER stated this, but they’ve actually stated quite the opposite.
There was a quote by Martin Kerstein on Guild Wars 2 Guru that Guild Halls and Player Housing would be coming, probably with the first paid expansion. It was also said that they don’t want to do the same old thing and they want to do guild halls right.
From what ive seen mentioned on the wiki the housing will be based in the home instance and im sure guildhalls are a must this is GUILDWARS after all i hope there is GvG eventually that would be neat as heck.
+1 to guild halls, sounds like they were a blast in gw1
Guild Halls…Oh to dream
As the leader of a small guild myself, I look forward to Guild Halls with both hopes and fears.
I oh so hope they institute “Guild Halls” that the small guilds could also enjoy, which do NOT require as much as ONE Guild Merit.
Our guild’s expectation was that they were going to embed the guild halls somewhere in the Architecture tree so guilds of ALL sizes would be able to enjoy them. Let it cost Influence, and/or Gold or Karma, heck even skill points for that matter but please, please, PLEASE, keep Merits out of the equation.
Our vision, was not of the static environment of the first Guild Wars. Thou it was helpful to have a Personal Bank and all the various Merchants and Henchmen in one place; oh no, our vision was much more grandiose.
A meeting place for like-minded individuals. Filled with fantastical wonders both great and small. A place to spur the imagination in whimsical delight, touching the very soul of all who enter. A bastion of hope and embodiment of dreams. Where even the 6 gods would envy to tread… (Too much?)
Yalora raises hand timidly. Aye, my friends…Aye.
LA is hardly used to find groups now that there are websites out there that are much more efficient about it so I fail to see how it will hurt the community though I do understand the argument against it. Then there’s also no more “omg what weapon/armor is that, can i have 5g please?” or obnoxious other spamming from other players. And since I can’t kick people from the game for begging me for money, but I can kick guildies from the guild for begging (not that we have ever had this issue), that makes me look all the more forward to having them.
Also, given all the guild specific content being added (trek, rush, challenge, bounty, puzzle)… shouldn’t guilds participating in these events have somewhere they can gather without interruption from public trolls? And also this way guild chat isn’t clogged, for those not participating in the activity, up with unnecessary BS from the far greater than party of 5 people that are heading off to these activities nor does it then force a large group onto vent either.
Even without crafting stations, merchants, etc… I still would be greatly looking forward to the guild hall.
I hope they put in guild halls. I want us to be able to pick what city we want it to be in. My vote would be for Queensdale. I think they should be open instanced so you can come and go without loading into another screen, but still have the ability to decorate it with banners and such. This would increase the populations in some cities and give players a sense of having a “home”. Let guilds be able to put crafting and bank stations in their halls too.
I don’t really give a fig about individual housing. It would have to be instanced and I would not ever visit other players houses. Did anyone honestly go hang out in someone else’s Hall Of Monuments in GW EOTN? I sure didn’t. And no one really had any interest in coming in mine. Maybe we wanted to to show off our collections, but it just didn’t work out.
I see not the point on it or on housing as many mentioned, Housing in MMOs is a waste of game space, if I wanted such an experience the Sims franchise offers quite better options on that, as for guild halls, I interact with my guild enough through chat, if they need me for a mission, a fractal/dungeon or wanna roll with me in WvW then they just have to say it, there is no need for a special place to gather or whatever but that’s only my opinion.
Urgh, yes please. It’s a right mess trying to sort out guild groups with PVE culling. It’d be awesome to be able to open the guild panel and click “go to guild hall” and be able to -see- everyone properly.
I would love for them to add Guild Halls where would could aquire our own vendors, merchants, repairsmith, crafters, bank access, display guild acheivements etc. but if, IF they even consider adding them they will probably take 10,000 guild merits or some other crazy thing.
I’d still like to hope that some sort of re-work for guild missions is in the works. Nothing worse than being in a small guild, finally unlocking the bounties, finding your target, only to have a bigger guild snake the kill before your members make it or have some randoms go all leeroy on komali or something…. but that is another thread….
@ Xar.6185
Good point. I also want Guild Halls mainly because of repairsmith and craftings honestly. I hate warping to specific areas just so I can crafts some stuff or repair my armors. In GW1, I go Guild Halls about always though there isn’t much to do but selling stuff and buying runes =)
Which leads to my next point. Instead of “Guild Missions” all over the world, maybe there could be random “guild quests” that we can select in the Guild Hall. Open the Guild Tab, go over the the Quest tab, and select one of the few quests available that week or month. Now at least small guilds don’t have to compete with bigger guilds.
Oh, and to satisfy some people, though I am against dueling, let a dueling system be in the guild hall as well. -_- Duel with your guildmates all you want, weirdos.
Legendary Ranger, Simon
No feelings either way since i never used them much in any mmo. If they do implement them, i hope they are implemented better than guild missions, which have been poorly thought through so far.
My main worry about guild halls would be spreading the community away from the hubs even more. Theres little enough reason to go to your home city atm and mid lvl zones are often sparse, guild halls would risk seeing less and less ppl out on the field. Thats not something id be in favour of.
@ Randfulf
You’re right about that. Didn’t even think about that. =) Okay, maybe no guild halls is for the greater goods afterall.
Legendary Ranger, Simon
I like how they did it in Age of Conan. Your guild could have a city, buildings and vendors for all crafting skills, bank and trade post access, class specific trainers ect… and the members of the guild built it from the ground up. The citys were on their own tier scale t1-t3 and certian buildings gave different buffs for guildies, the higher the teir the better the buffs. Every thing needed to build was harvestable except blueprints that were sold on a vendor. It give the guild a sense of pride having built their own city.
I think something like this, maybe not in such a large scale would make guild halls available for all guilds, no matter the size and by adding a few guild wide buffs for the building would make it worth doing.
I really want a guild hall. I have some guildies I talk to them everyday but don’t group with them often. However, I still want to know what their characters look like.
i would prefer player housing instead of guild halls. In other games where guild halls were there,i never used it, i dont see the point of it
guild halls allow players to have a place to get together. Housing is just a waste of server space.
First, server space isn’t finite. Second, depending on how it is done both can be served quite well. Personally, I’ve played games with “guild” halls (or something similar) and found them to be of no interest, whereas personal housing does appeal to me. Probably the best route is something similar to how DAoC implemented it, where housing is done in clusters and there are different sized houses. This allows guilds to have their own “neighborhood”, and even designate on (very large) house as a “guild” house. Best of both worlds and everyone is happy.
Guild Halls should be apart of player housing.
For example say you can purchase/build a guild hall that is for 100 people. Each person can have their own room that they can add stuff to.
Then as a guild you can build stuff like farms for specific plants, a tree farm, maybe an underground mine to spend some time mining.
There can also be small training areas to practice different builds and traits free of charge.
And if you complete events as a guild you can add trophies such as a dragon head from jormag, a sword from AC, and other stuff.
Maybe add some mini games with mini pets/skin rewards like fishing in a pond in your hall or foot races, player dueling, and other activities and maybe have some G vs G activities to earn trophies for your guild hall.
I’d rather see an alliance system where smaller guilds and larger guilds can support each other before a guild hall.

I like your idea mate. I remember Lotro had something very similar, when you killed world bosses they dropped trophies which could then be placed in your house or the bigger ones in the Kin house.
I think for me they are something that could be such a good addition to the game, if done properly. So here’s my list of features.
- customisable so they can be unique
- contain trophies from your exploits in the game.
- have a use, so you can grow crops, store items etc
- the guild house could have a custom arena, the guild can purchase new sections and features. Over time it would become better and better. You can invite other guilds to it to fight Guild vs Guild. This would be awesome in my book.
I’m sure if AN did this they would do a good job, I’m just worried they are too focused on other things now for ideas like this. Hey if I was a coder, artist etc I work for free. I’d just love to get this into the game.
I see no useful purpose for either guild halls or housing. If others want them, I have no problem with it, but I think there are far more important things to spend development time on.
Coming from SWG, I know how Player Housing and Guild Halls (Housing and City Housing) should be done.
Player Housing…
- Able to add interactive Furniture…(Chairs that can be sat in, Food to be eaten, Holograms that do a dance, something besides just sitting there unable to be used)
- Trophies…killing world bosses, getting certain achievements, getting certain items (Legendary)
- DIFFERENT TYPES OF HOUSES (Everyone getting the same box with the same 4 walls is NOT the way to go)
- Able to pay NPCs to set up a shop, or able to set up a market stall in your house for visiting players (able to set items that you want to privately sell)
- Friends able to visit your house without your permission
- Able to lock said friends out of your house if you don’t want them in.
Thats really all I can think of for Player Housing…
Guild Halls
- Owning a guild hall eats away at a monthly/weekly cost via the Guild Bank, IE not a one time cost.
- Able to have other guilds visit
- Housed in only a certain city, each city costs a different amount (inspired via DOT.HACK, of based on what City you had to go to see a Guild, you knew how big their pockets were (A City in Lions Arch would be “greater” in value then a city in say, The Grove.)) estate prices and such :P
- each new function of the city (Banks, PvP, GvG, WvW, Merchants, etc) adds to the upkeep of the guild, so buying a Bank would add a new section to your city (not just an NPC) but would also cost say…1g more per month.
Yes, I know my Guild Halls opinion isnt what people are going to want…at all…but it will keep guilds active, and keep the Guild Hall as something that is only for the Guilds that can afford it.
