Okay, I know those are both really cliche choices, but I’m trying to decide which character to focus on as my “main”.

For me, appearance and overall “vibe” are more important than which is actually more powerful, if either. I dig the sort of “Barbarian” motif of the Norn, but I also wonder whether or not such armor is really common? Similarly, I like how Humans look in the more gothic-looking armor, but much of their armor seems less imposing, from what I’ve seen.

Really, I guess I’m just kinda looking for you guys’ feedback, which do you think will wind up being the most “neutral” choice to focus on? No matter who I choose to play up now, my next character will most certainly be a Charr Engineer, so I’m really open to feedback.

Consider the fact you listed two identical weight classes which means they share the same armor aside from cultural.

unless you are the type that enjoys creating a lot of characters,

i would suggest going just 3 characters, 1 light 1 heavy 1 med.

Long term you’d be happier on a Warrior.

We don’t need to make mandatory gear treadmills, we make all of it optional

Honestly i’d choose warrior over guardian. Personally i find guardian kind of boring, even zerker guard. But with warrior i have alot of fun and i like the combat, especially soloing things.
anyways it is a tough decision on race. Personally i like human better with arah armor, but norn t3 looks pretty great as well. I guess just preview them with the dye you want and weapon you want and figure out which you like better.

Hmm, all Professions share the same armor-designs? That’s surprising; I suppose I’m still so low level, I just assumed it would follow suit to WoW, giving each Class its own visual-identity.

Still, trying to decide; do I stick with the consistent, yet sometimes bland Humans, or the hyper-masculine Norn, who don’t necessarily look great in every set of armor…?

If you choose guardian, play as a norn. Guardians have bad mobility, but norns have an op racial elite that lets you do 3000 range rushes while stealthed (snow leopard form).

For me the race makes up a huge part of a character.
As an example I have deleted classes I loved because the race did not suit it- or my concept and when I remade them I loved them.
So my advice to you would be to decide on a character concept- who do you want your character want to be- how does he go about things etc.
Sounds mundane but it may help you settle on race and class.
For example I see the Norn ans very independent, somewhat egotistical, easy going people obsessed with creating a personal legend- to me that would suggest warrior more than guardian.
While on the other hand I see humans as almost extinct- too stubborn to give up and fighting to unite the world- that suggests Guardian to me more.

Ultimately it is up to you though, good luck

Not all professions, just weight classes; Guardian and Warrior are both considered heavy and share heavy armor

Hmm, gotcha. Still kind of unusual there aren’t any Profession-specific armor-designs, but not necessarily a bad thing — just not what I had expected.

So really, it basically comes down to just body-type and story, then?

Female norn both IMO Especially for the heavy classes. You just feel so epic standing beside anything than charr smashing and slicing

Well, look up Cultural armor. Each race has three tiers of Cultural armor unique to the race, and even unique to the weight class (so across light, medium, and heavy, there are 9 Cultural armors per race).

Between Human and Norn, the Tier 3 Norn heavy set is my favorite. I have 2-and-a-half sets of it :P But T3 is expensive; over 100 gold per set of it (this goes for all T3 armors, they share price structures). For tiers 1 or 2 (welfare by comparison lol, these ones only cost a few gold), I definitely prefer the human variants.

Edit: Argos-Soft is down, try Wiki-ing cultural armor

Man, that’s a tough one. Norn has, hands-down, the better looking Cultural Armor, but Humans also look better in several of the other, more elaborate sets.

I suppose the tie-breaker will have to be this; which one do you think tends to look better in Town Clothes? For example, I still have my Mad King’s gear from last year, and I know it looks pretty wicked on a Human, but how something like that stack up on a Norn?

Personally I don’t like the look of male norns. Armours seem to ‘stretch’ on them.

I prefer guardians over Warriors, because the blue flames are just something very unique to them and that makes them cosmetically awesome. I also feel that there’s more variety with Guardians in terms of builds than Warriors.

I love my Norn Warrior he’s pretty beastly, and I just recently got him full T3 Cultural armor w/ T2 Weapons (Just for the skins obv.) His looks are really appealing to me and as a Warrior I find myself being able to fit into any group dynamic pretty much.

I have 8 toons, in order of creation: Norn Thief, male. Charr Guard, male. Human Warr, male. Human Necrocutie, female. Norn Elehottie, female. Norn Ranger, female. Human Enig, female. Norn Mezzmerizing, female.

Like em all for various reasons. Norns I like better tho. Nicer view, well, the females anyway. They have nice cultural armour too. Like it better then any of the male human. Like some of the female human cultural. None of the charr. Not into spikes and crap everywhere.
