Today i wanted to create a new character named my username(Criptonix) but sundly…Criptonix Already in use

aww sorry to him but i found Criptonix when i started playing online then in rift i used Ramenias(Random FTW) but my main name is Criptonix

To be fair, it’s not your name….names are first come, first serve. You have no idea how long that person has been using said name in his/her gaming career. He/she may feel you took his/her display name! =)

i never seen anyone using my name until now back in beta i had my name but now i saw it that it exist even in some games i can acces my name

What do you expect your message to him to do for you? He is not likely to rename his character. He has likely had that name for months now. Getting an email from someone who is just now making a character and is claiming that he took your name, the name he has been using for up to 10 months, he will just think you sound really strange.

Back in beta doesn’t really mean much since many players didn’t bother doing beta. If he got it first, it’s his name. If you don’t claim the name, anyone can use it. That’s how these things work.

Why add an extra task for support to deal with just because someone has a name someone else wants? They would probably just reply that they won’t do anything anyway.

Honestly, that annoys me.

I thought D3 had a good method, people would see your account tag name, but your character names were not unique. That’s also less confusing. Sometimes people in gw2 will log on with a different character and I forget who it is.

Now instead I have to resort to using Initials or just plain misspellings! /sadface

The name I originally wanted, as well as my “backup” name were both snagged up within 20 minute’s of launch. I thought they were pretty original names. It wouldn’t normally bother me much. What DOES bug me is that neither has barely been logged onto since…and I could be putting them to use.

Keep in mind, NPC names aren’t allowed. Example there’s an NPC named Sable, and I usually use the name Sable in games. I can’t use the name Sable in GW2. T_T

I was surprised I could name my ele ‘Xandra’, but I got it during headstart weekend. Now, if ANet decides they want the name back for a Canthan NPC ritualist (we can hope), they can pay for a rename for me, but I’m not likely to give it up to some random person who decides they want it/deserve it.

I used to be Professor Elemental, deleted the name to advance racial achievements, went back and.. It’s taken. Anyway, kind of glad though, it allows me to be more creative with my naming techniques.

I had someone message me claiming I “stole” his name and wanted me to get a name change so he could get “his” name back. I simply blocked him.

I have to admit if someone sent me a message saying I had stolen their name and they wanted me to give it up my response (depending on how polite they are) would be somewhere between “Oh, that sucks. I never thought anyone else would want it but I guess I’m not the only one who likes [whatever inspired that particular name]” and just blocking them with no reply at all.

I definitely wouldn’t give it up. Names being taken is just something you have to live with in online games, or anything with a registration system.

Sometimes it can actually be a good thing, I’ve got a few character names in games that started as an alternatively something that was taken and now even if I could I don’t think I’d go back to the original because I prefer my version.

It really depends. If you have the name trademarked, you can’t redeem the name, but you can permanently get the name on the “this name can’t get used” list.

Someone uses my real life nickname. I would be willing to bet I have had that nickname longer than they have if it is their’s in real life too. All my friends have been calling me that for over 25 years.

I’m gonna send that player an in game mail and demand they buy a name change contract and change it so I can use it on my character. If that doesn’t work then I guess I’ll be forced to submit a support ticket.
