Simple question, how does the game allow buy orders to be placed that are below the minimum sell price?

Happens all the time, gets kind of aggravating when trying to sell a bunch of trash, already having to deal with the asinine “you’ve placed too many sell orders, wait a bit” rubbish, to also waste time trying to “Sell Instantly” only to be told the highest buy price is less than the minimum for the item.

Just an example, “Rampager’s Iron Dagger of Bloodlust”, highest buy price is 1.44, minimum sell is 1.51!

It doesn’t. But when they made that change they didn’t clear them from the TP so they’re left around forever to throw people deep into inner sadness.

When the game launched the minimum price was one copper over the vendor price. Problem with that is after deducting the posting fee and sales tax would you would earn less selling at the minimum sale price on the TP then you would selling to a vendor.

So they finally got around to changing that so the minimum price guarantees you will earn as much as if you sold the item to a vendor if you posted it on the TP. But that left sale orders in below the current minimum.

We are heroes. This is what we do!

Two things then, 1) why doesn’t ANet just cancel the buy orders 2) Why doesn’t the buyer cancel? The latter is almost certainly because they no longer play the game, which makes 1) even more of a no-brainer.

Why does the buyer not cancel:
1) Cause buyers have 10-20K buy listings atminimum or below minimum price.
Identifying each one which may be below vendor price is a time consuming process… So (a) Buyer doesn’t bother.

2) The almighty praise RNG validator, bounty hunter, investigator John Smith has mentioned in the past that will be ANET and implement a fix for these. E.g, refunding the buy orders to individuals – which leaves a problem of:
A) Buyer doesn’t know where all this money came from….
Solution : (B) buyer needs to know which sales purchase orders were cancelled. The TP barons would be unhappy getting gold without knowing which listings have been cancelled.

Problem : ANET doesn’t have a way of letting people know which orders they cancel and refund unless they implement additional functionality in the TP. Eg a list of cancelled buy orders – which requires Dev time.

Leads to problem 3: players want more content…and may be angry fixing such a minor issue which requires Dev time – where players want the legendarys, raids, www, pvp fixes etc….

Simple solution for OP:
Salvage all blue/greens – mats you get back > cost of items usually.

Sell Rare/Exotic via TP or MF (If that’s your thing).

Job done problem solved for you

A prices in a trader arent really a lowest possible because people try to sell a stuff for a profit. So people can put a order requests in a certain level until it reaches a lowest limit like one person already mentioned a profit while againts just selling them to a vendors.
Also its a guarandeed money if you sell items to those who order (while they money are bound unless seller agree to sell them) a specific items. Unlike if you put a item in a sale its not guarandeed that you get a money just put a item in there.
