Why I Think GW2 Will Not Stand the Test of Time
Everyone’s entitled to their own opinion.
Nice write OP.
GW2 is the most casual/non competitive game on the market. After playing for 3 weeks strong and not playing WoW for over a year. MoP seems hardcore compared to what I just left.
edit Wpvp is alive in pandaland too.
wish they added guild halls, guild battles like in gw1 just a bit for more scale :P
use of my personal house district like add some farms where we could gather materials every 24h or something like that
and ofc HoM where we can show our friends what we have
but game is new and hope they will release it soon
The ‘ego’ stuff is irrelevant IMO, most people love competition, and seriously; anything to do with skills nowadays will create some kind of competition.
The key is that human actually have ‘awareness’ of what’s truly happening. One key point that you did not include in your article TC is that all of us humans have a nature awareness, the type that’s similar to being attracted to pretty girls, noticing someone’s different, etc. The type of things we think are bad and feel like shouldn’t exist in society; yet those things are so easily fused with how we react naturally to things. It’s not something by ‘thinking’ will change the way that it actually is.
Nowadays everyone likes to know that they’re good (at something); that’s probably more important than w.e. [I’m better than you]-like ego psych. you’re talking about. And having to succeed is not the problem, but seeing others succeed as easily is how we know that we aren’t ‘special’ – and honestly, does talking about this stuff really change the reality of things? Nope.
What’s the point we’re discussing here?… like, how GW2 is not a good game because players can’t get ego boost from playing it?… Yah, we all know that that’s true, but we also know that it’s not up to us posting pointless (but well constructed) essays about game psyche to push Anet into making GW2 more competitive. Again, the read was the nice, but there is no point or difference that’s being made discussing about this so why go down these sticky issues for the sake of nothing.
