Why I am taking a break

I don’t think being able to get back into the same instance after a disconnect, or being able to forcefully join it regardless of it having filled up to capacity during your absence, are part of the 64 bit client.

You wont need to rejoin because you’re far less likely to crash, eliminating the problem all together.
There has been absolutely no mention of any kind of crashing anywhere in the original post.

DC, which is either a crash, or the OP’s internet provider, in which case, Anet can do nothing about, making his complaint irrelevant.

I have the 64 bit client and get crashes every other time I do the DS, AB and Teq meta events. I normally play this game while streaming a show and it never drops below 720p let alone 1080p when these “disconnects” happen.
By this point it’s practically a feature lol.

Well, I guess that’s true if you can’t parse the complaint. We who can, realize that ANet can do something about it.
The complaint being, stated clearly enough, that it was not possible to rejoin the same map instance as the one being played on before the “dc”. (“disconnect”, not “crash”.)
And yes, ANet should do something about it. Client/server software solutions for intercontinental internet services should (and very often do) keep sessions alive so the service can be resumed without productivity loss after lost connection are restored. The original Guild Wars does it, although not at release.
GW2 is a good game but it does have some serious flaws.
Today this flaw made me decide to take a break.
After finally getting into a TT wurm map that is organized and good to go (of course after the long long wait), my escort is just about to finish and boom…dc…
I know people have mentioned this problem before but, as soon as I log back in the map is full and I am stuck spamming join to no avail.
Perhaps Anet can look at this issue because I am definitely not going to wait forever to get to the action and have the game 007 on me again.
I think it’s a good idea to take a break when a game stops being fun. There’s no question that if one’s game is DCing at important moments, that’s frustrating, not fun.
However, the OP hasn’t mentioned whether they have tried working with support or their ISP or with a tech professional to try to troubleshoot the issue. So I’m not ready to blame gw2.exe or ANet for the particular frustration mentioned in this particular thread.
@OP: I’m sorry that you keep getting DC’d and I hope by the time you get back, the issue has resolved itself one way or another. Have fun outside of Tyria (I hear the grass is greener and the loot drops like candy from a piƱata).
No crash just a nice 007. I didnt bother with a traceroute to check for lost packets. It could be lvl 3, it could be my ISP, it could be Anet.
As Manasa Devi.7958 stated, the original GW had this feature and I remember jumping for joy at it’s inclusion into the client. Since GW2 is a modified GW1 client, I would think that adding this feature wouldn’t be as difficult as , say adding DX12.
Back to Dragons Dogma for PC(you really should play this if you haven’t already!)

The whole reliance on LFG system to get into populated maps is a big issue in gw2. Let alone the problems that follow.

Please stop. You’re embarrassing yourself.
I agree that there should be something done about the DC issue and not being able to rejoin a map shard. The whole spam to get into a “good map” through the LFG is also an issue.
Honesty I have logged a lot of hours in HoT and large meta events and have yet to DC since like maybe once this past summer. So I am pretty fortunate but I get where people with connection issues are coming from. People are quick to blame Anet for the DC’s which is rarely the case, but regardless there needs to be a system in place to hold progress to some extent. And I know this isn’t the main discussion of the thread but the spam LFG meta event game gets old very quickly as well.
I hope you enjoy your break tho and hopefully when you are ready to come back they have things smoothed out.
Made a t4 TD map, finally doing a organised lane defense @ all lanes.
Dc at 2nd wave @ ogre.
Cant get back in the map that i contributed all that time and effort into and lost all credit to the defense achieve.
/rage quit.

A DC grace period would be nice. Even if it’s 1 minute.
