i had my first attempt today with the 10 clover recipe and i had 10 clover right away…
i didn’t dare to have a second attempt though

I’ve been running fractals 20&30+ daily over the past 2 and a half weeks i’ve only gotten 4 shards. I can’t even upgrade my alts rings to infused because I don’t have enough shards while my friend found 4 shards from 1 fractal. Yay for RNG
this is what happens when you make things untradable and the only way to get them is to gamble.
This is why we can’t have nice things.
(before someone infracts me, think about the context, please.)
… 3 rares in 15 mins
… 5 ectos on salvage
… precursor in less than 10 tries
(point is you would only whine if you are unlucky. go play chess if you hate rng)

Just so you know. To upgrade a ring you will only need 1 shard. You also need 3 globs and 5 vials.
RNG is a terrible system.
Im still absolutely shocked that MMO’s still use it for loot distribution for end rewards of things.
Would it really be so hard to have a rating system of sorts, that (internally, not shown to players) ranks your performance for the dungeon and gives you loot accordingly? The player who died 9 times completing the ascalonian fractal does not deserve better loot than the two players who had to duo ashym from 50% of his hp. It’s foolish to have a nonbiased system when certain players are clearly putting in more effort. Hell it wouldnt even be that hard of a fix. (well, it would probably take time, and I dont expect it to ever be addressed, as it’s really something that you need to implement at the very basic stage of your games design. But it’s not a hard thing to implement at that stage of development)

Perfectly logical sense here, except for the fact that it would be a HUGE unmitigated disaster and probably cause some extra frictions in groups.
The fact is, players with that “I’ll just coast on by and get carried cos it’s just a game” attitude which apparently make up for a large portion of the game’s player base if they’re to be believed would HATE THIS and thus leave the game.
RNG has always been terrible, it’s always been a poor gating mechanism and it’s one of if not the most archaic systems known to man, time to come up with something better than a skinner box methinks…
But having said that we’re saying this about a game that has RNG in it’s RNG lol and RNG in their friggin cash shop, which is also something many people abhor and rightly so. But OP, you should definitely change the title of this thread, as it’s misleading.
there is better and its called tokens.
apparently player were begging anet to put RNG in because they love it. but i don’t see what the problem is, we still have mystic forge… oh wait… RNG there also…

Eh… but mystic clovers are a fixed 1/3 drop rate.. so in a big enough sample size (about 21 attempts is enough) you should get about 7 out of that. Even if you did it separately, the probability will still remain roughly 1/3. People usually complain about their bad streaks but then neglect the good streaks which they had (maybe they got 2 in a row or more and then a consecutive none from 5 tries, see what i’m getting at? they got 2 out of 7 attempts but only looked at the 5 failed attempts and ignored the successful ones).
Anyways RnG is fine. There has to be RnG aspects in any game regardless if you liked it or not. The drop rate has to be lower in this game because the loot system rewards every player and not 1 items shared among 5 people using a need/greed system.
Besides, I avoid most of the rng aspects in this game. They’re mostly optional if you’re not an impatient person. But then it’s not really the game but you eh.

this guy… there will always be some1 that says it ok so…
Yesterday – 50 single tries = 8 mystic clovers
Today – 10 single tries = 0 mystic clovers
So to sum up, 60 single tries gives 8 clovers… 1 in 3 my kitten
