I’ve started playing GW2 for a week or so now and something in the trading post has been bothering me. I’m really curious why some items (example: lv 50 Strong Leather Pants)
costs so much more than (lv 50 Strong Privateer Pants of Divinity) while their stats are all the same?

Only differences I see is their skin and one has minor rune in it.

Supply has a something to do do with it. The strong leather pants have a supply about 50-60. The privateer has a supply about 200-225. Higher supply means that people are underbidding each other more often and the prices drop.

The ingredients are probably more expensive.

If the only difference is the skin, that has to be what the extra cost is (the other ones with that skin were more expensive too. I don’t think the rune will have anything to do with it because minor runes sell for 1 silver at the very most (unless the prices have changed dramatically since I last checked, which I highly doubt).

Because you cant get Strong Leather Pants as drop, you have to craft it and it cost a little. Strong Privateer Pants of Divinity its dropping very often so the price is low.

Exactly. Some people need to buy the strong leather pants to unlock the skin for their wardrobe (their is an achievement for that), hence the difference in price.
