Why a precursor scavenger hunt?
The quest for a Legendary is supposed to be legendary. Right now you have to run WvW for x2 stack badges, some dungeon for x2 stack item, and world completion for playing across the game.
Everything else is farming anywhere you want to buy the t6, lodestones, ectos, and precursor. Why shouldn’t at least one more of those encourage more actual game play instead of farming?
The areas of play left out in current Legendary quest are sPvP and JP’s. These need a portion in the quest somewhere.
I missed this earlier and I have an honest question:
Do you expect an MMO out there to not have farmers? Farmers are a gameplay choice. People who farm want to get things faster and more efficiently than others. And believe it or not, farmers may actually enjoy that kind of ‘grind’.
So what exactly is this ‘actual gameplay’ you speak of? Because no matter what Arenanet does, farmers will always be out there looking for the fastest way of playing the game.
If the only thing this game had was just 1600 events that you want to play, I assure you that farmers would not do all of them and would find the top 5% events that rewarded the most.

Which leads to a.net introducing DR to stimulate more healthy and engaging playstyles, to limit the advantage farmers have over players who game for fun. That became a big outrage, while in reality most players were never affected by it. Seriously, how many normal people consistently run the same dungeon path more than one, except for farmers? That’s not fun.

I was under the impression dr was implemented to deter bots. If they wanted to reduce advantages wouldn’t they put limitation on tp players?

DR was introduced to handle bots, and since they’re almost non-existent, it should be removed. The only reason why I think it’s still here is because it has a positive effect on the economy.
Healthy and engaging playstyles? I don’t want Arenanet telling me how I should play the game. Of course, it’s within reason, like exploits, but if I want to farm, I should be and I shouldn’t be punished.
Perhaps it’s healthier for me to farm the same thing over and over since I find it relaxing and stress-free, as opposed to having to pay 100% attention to event objectives and trying to find the next event to do.

Just to avoid the infraction for inflammatory comment. The idea behind rare precursors/legendary weapons is to give people something to want so they keep logging in every day and playing the game.
Having someone drop 600 rare greatswords into the mystic forge and not get a precursor isn’t a failure. It’s a resounding success. Because someone wants the precursor enough and plays the game enough that they threw away 600 rare greatswords.
As long as people feel like to goal is just out of reach they will continue to play the game.

Yes, a carrot that you see someone else eating and think that maybe you can get, but you probably can’t.
Yeah Im all for an easier method of getting a precursor, seeing as I still dont have one.
Oh…as long as someone refunds all the money I’ve already spurged into the mystic toilet. About 250g I estimate. I’ll be happy to have it back. Till then you can just go suck a lemon.
Personal story can be completed within a week or less- that would be alot of people with precursors & legendaries. Not necessarily a good thing….. There shouldn’t be an easier way to obtain a precursor just more alternatives! People need to stop being so kitten & actually work for it, not saying people aren’t but easier way? No thanks, I actually like to work for what I get, that way I feel somewhat that I ‘earned’ it.

Again, there’s a HUGE gap between having a precursor and having a Legendary weapon.

I was assuming there would be other avenues of obtaining the legendary through a epic quest chain or WvW prowess or something not involving RNG based gathering, but they haven’t really commented on that. The precursor scavenger hunt is a good start.
Then again I’m wrong quite frequently, according to my loving wife.

I don’t see why there is need for a Scavenger Hunt, a better way to award players with a precursor is already in game: The Personal Story. Atm, the ultimate reward, the Pact Victory Token, is crap. You can trade it for a rare (what doesn’t makes sense because the Pact Victory Token is Legendary) with a crappy skin. I felt so disappointed, and seeing all these posts about a Precursor Scavenger Hunt, I was thinking…
Why not replace the crappy rare skins for the Pact Victory Token with Precursors?
I mean, Personal Story really isn’t done in 5 minutes. It’s something that you carry with you from Level 1 to 80.
I never really saw the draw for Legendary’s anyway. Got one precurser once, sold it for an awesome profit without even thinking twice.
