In order to get map completion, I need (and I have NO idea why they even did this ridiculous thing) to have WvW map completion as well.

The problem is, Blacktide is a HORRIBLE WvW server and I never get the opportunity to get the things I need.

I check hourly whenever I can actually play the game, I’m sorry if your excuse is to “look more for when your faction holds said point”.

This is ridiculous. I feel like I need to buy a server swap just to get my World Completion…

UPDATE: Today after the reset, yet again, I was still not able to get my required points and probably never will. Arena Net, I really hope you will fix this horribly designed piece of content.

Idk anything about blacktide, but I’d encourage you to try logging in for reset and try then. Reset usually has the most action/people who may be able to help. (Plus if you run fast enough you won’t actually have to fight…

Or you could always play wvw and start soloing towers and on slow nights keeps.

Guide for WvW map completion

Method 1: (only for active servers)
actively follow the commander around the map as they take things

Method 2: (any server)
transfer to an active server and follow method 1

Method 3: (most popular method for lower tier servers)
Run to objectives on reset night to get exploration quickly (before your server loses things). WvW matchup resets 1 hour and ~5 minutes after the daily reset on Friday night (currently 5:05 PM PST for NA servers)
When the matchup resets, your server has a claim over all the keeps and towers in their Borderland and the keep and 4 towers for your corner in Eternal Battlegrounds.

When reset occurs go to your BL and run like crazy (bring swiftness!) to the 2 southernmost keeps (Bay and Hills) get all the POIs and vistas there. Then move north from them visiting towers, camps, and the garrison. You should have the 3 keeps and all the towers and camps north of Bay/Hills (dont worry if it takes more than 1 week). If your server still has stuff in EB, then go there and pick up your keep, 4 towers and the 2 camps on your side (will likely need more than one week for this and BL). to get the stuff in the south, you have to wait until your color is NOT the same as the BL (go to BLs that are “not your server name borderlands”)(unless you are really fast and can get to that southernmost tower before the enemy gets it). You will need 4 friends. You can activate the commander NPC (seigerazor/siegecrusher) if he is there. He will help you take the tower closest to your spawn. You can also take the 2 camps nearest to your spawn and get the south skill point/vistas.

Stonemist Castle will probably be your biggest issue if your world never takes it. The best way i can see to do it is to follow an enemy zerg into it (be careful they will see you as an easy target). Stealth is your best friend (if youre a mes or thief just equip your stealths and carefully fun around the perimiter picking up the POIs, otherwise bring a freind who can stealth you). You have to follow your enemy through the inner gate as well in order to get the skill point (this should be done after most of them leave).

Tips:
*Be patient, this is a PvP map and it might take some time to do if your server has 0 presence
*Always avoid enemies when you can. Anyone that sees you will tell their 50 “freinds” in map chat and generally try to engage you
*Stealth, speed boosts, and even invulnerability skills are very helpful
*non-peak times can also be helpful if you are against servers where people actually get some sleep
*If you mention what server you are on, you might find someone here that will help you as well

WvW is the cause of great frustration for many players. Of the many servers available I believe only the current top 6 or 7 servers have a proper population and WvW presence to experience WvW properly on a week by week basis.

It’s a shame that players are forced to join these higher populated servers but that’s the answer we are left with.

If you Wait long enough your server should rotate to another color, but this can take a while.

All I can remember seeing was a screen shot from the beta-client which had less objectives, but that doesn’t have to mean that WvW gets removed. It could simply mean that WvW was not active in that version.

During one of the streams they opened up the map to WP and the total number of SP/PoI/etc is lower than it is now. The difference happens to be what you would get if you removed WvW from world completion.

Which doesn’t actually prove anything at all. It might imply stuff, but there have been no word about it, and it could easily be explained by WvW simply not being available in that client or something like that.

I saw that picture and there were 30 less skill points, not just the number that are in WvW. So possibly it’s removed or possibly they just removed items from both the PvE and WvW maps.

Gobble D Goop has the right answers here. You’re not forced to switch servers, you just have to treat WvW as the different beast it is compared to PvE. You have to work around its schedule rather than your own if you’re solely after map completion. Good luck!

Sure you could pay tons of gold to transfer. Or you could, y’know actually try to capture the objectives you’re missing, as was originally intended. Doing it at off-hours would make it a lot easier. Or just wait for the maps to rotate until you own the POIs you’re missing.

Just do it and stahp wondering why if you truly feel forced.

i believe the Euro servers reset at a different time from the NA servers.

Reset happened. D/D ele with max swiftness boosts.

Was not even able to get one point that I needed. This is just horrid.

oh… blacktide… blackgate… I thought he was on a NA server. I get it now.

I have World Completion on 1 character, and sadly I did pay for a server transfer to achieve it. I needed just a couple of points, but no matter how long I waited, my (at the time) t8 server just couldn’t seem to do it (during my available play time). So i paid to swap up to a t4 server. I got my map completion that way.

Sadly, within a month of swapping the active wvw community on that server abandoned it to swap up to a t2 server. That t4 server is now t7 and falling. So, I suppose if I want to do map completion ever again, I’ll have to pay for yet another transfer. How lovely. sigh

But it’s true. They’re always last. Hhahahaha

Blacktide certainly isn’t the easiest server for map completion right now, but it’s possible to do it nevertheless.

I did my first map completion on this account on Vabbi, back when they were in the position Blacktide is now, always last and with such a big difference to the other two servers that there was maybe a 5% chance of us being blue (I actually think it was less), and no mathematical chance at all to be green.

I did a lot of map completion at off-times, weekend mornings were great for that. Every now and then you’d find a couple of people, too, and be able to group up for a tower or two. Eventually one evening I found a random 3-man-zerg on the virtually empty green borderlands and took the green keeps with them, the last spots missing.

To be honest, it did take me several weeks (probably a few months even, I don’t really remember) to get WvW completion done on that character, but it was worth it. My suggestion would be to look for a build that isn’t too squishy (not easy on an ele I admit ) and take as much swiftness and as many stunbreakers as you possibly can. And, of course, a huge bucket of patience!
