Shouldn’t there be a more fair way to change servers? the longer you wait, the more expensive it gets, and some people who could have switched, now find it economically impossible. I think it should be a static cost. Over the last month prices have become out of control.

The only way it could be a static cost would be if it was only possible with real money purchases. And I doubt people would prefer that.

You also seem to disregard the fact that 1800 gems costs just as much today as it did back at release.

Basing costs on the gold to gem transfer should never happen.

Think of gold to gem trade as Arena net doing you a favor. In most games you would have to pay the full thing $$ in this game you can subsidize the cost of it with gold.

The point being Arena net could case less than it gets more expensive over time when you do gold to gem trade BECAUSE they would rather you do $$ to gem trade.

The true price is in real world money. The gold price is ANet allowing players to get things for free. ANet, after all, is a business. They don’t make money off of forum complaints and abuse alone.

If you think ANet is expensive, try other game’s prices. WoW charges a monthly fee and then charges $25 to transfer one character to another server. Transferring a whole account can cost hundreds of dollars.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

Cost in money is static.

Everything on the gem store has a static RL $ cost. Open your wallet or earn the gold in-game. The choice is there and it is 100% a player decision.

BTW, every player that complains about the gem store and RL $ purchase of gems needs to understand the economics behind how Anet is able to maintain the servers being powered up so they can actually log in. RL $ sale of gems is vital in keeping them up and running.

There is a free option, which is to delete all of your characters and reroll after changing servers.

This could be an option if you don’t have much in the way of soulbound items, if you have a lot of Tomes of Knowledge and don’t mind redoing things like crafting and exploration.

Items stored in your bank (account vault) will not be deleted.

It is worth checking if the server you want to move to is full, though. It would be rather frustrating deleting everything and then realising you can’t move anyway.

It’s hard to take you seriously when you complain about “the last month prices have become out of control.” Then you show a chart for the last YEAR to support your argument.

I would give you the benefit of the doubt and guess it was a mistake but you intentionally dragged out the graph at GW2spidy.com to get last year included and then cropped the image to hide the bottom that shows you are displaying 1 year and not 1 month.

If they did they would be the highest grossing MMO in the history of MMOs :P

Wow, good catch.

He has April 1st to May 1st numbers highlighted, but it’s not one month. It’s a year and a month.

Maybe he did it by accident but the bottom is cropped and the date at the top is cut off also, which is ….. Interesting.
