Everytime I finish a reward track, the surplus points go into SAB. Even if I have an unfinished track with more points in it. WHY? Its kittening obnoxious. Not everyone wants to play that stupid minigame.

For whatever reason, extra points always goes into Citadel of Flames’ reward track (and before I had that unlocked: Sorrow’s Embrace). At least for me.

I doubt it was a conscious action by the devs, probably some oddity in the coding.

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

It goes to the “next” thing on the reward list, which has some ordering I can’t understand but is probably, like, some technical implementation quirk or other.

Sadly, this is a well known annoyance, and seems highly unlikely to change. Pay attention for when you finish a track and switch to the one you want as soon as possible.

As SlippyCheeze said, it has nothing to do with SAB; it’s a bug related to reward tracks.

There are two work-arounds, neither very convenient:

  • Keep an eye on the reward track and get ready to manually swap on short notice (perhaps during a PvP match — ugh — or during a pause in WvW action).
  • Keep an eye on the reward track and use a potion to top it off when it’s close to completion, so you can manually choose.

Another thing you can do is to invest some potions into a “backup” reward track. For example, say you’re working on Arah and your next goal will be CoE — swap first to CoE, pop 3-4 potions to get the track started, and then swap back to Arah. The game should default to your most-complete track, rather than your most-recently-completed one (or next on the list, which is usually the festival).

tl;dr It’s an annoying “feature” with nothing to do with SAB. There are some ugly work-arounds.

Unfortunately, this doesn’t work with the SAB track – it seems to always get selected regardless of any partially complete tracks, possibly because it’s a limited-time festival track.

While hardly an ideal solution, I find the most effective way to keep an unwanted track from popping up is to complete it once, and leave it in the completed state.

That doesn’t help, it insists on picking the SAB track even if I finished it.

And yea, that’s not an SAB problem but a reward track problem. I think we should be able to queue our reward tracks. I mean it was so bad at one point I accidentally have several GoB just because it kept overflowing from the end of a previous track bit by bit. >.>

I just select a new one after the huge popup screen says it’s completed and offers the final reward box.

But that’s sensible! Where’s the rage? The angst? The will to remove what others love?

Really though, it doesn’t take that much extra attention to swap to a new track. :\

Since this is a pvp/wvw issue, shouldnt it be in those forums?

Because sometimes there is overflow. It is already too late. And in WvW, you can’t always stare at the reward track.

It’s a reward track issue — it applies to the entire game, not just PvP (one forum) or WvW (another).

This. When I first found this out and grumbled in /g several of our more dedicated PvP players mentioned they had, eg, collected half a dozen completions of some dungeon reward track because of overflow over the course of playing…

That doesn’t negate my statement that actually paying attention to what track they’re on is really easy. >.>

But! It also sounds like a QoL thing that would be great for the PvP/WvW scene. I think someone above mentioned Reward Track Queues so players could avoid unwanted defaulting. Or at least a more prominent notice when completing a track, instead of just flashing some bouncy chest that looks like every other bouncy chest.

why can’t the track automatically self-repeat. I know I am repeating the same track over and over, so just move the spare points to the start of the same track.

I know, but that doesn’t cover the whole picture. I’m saying even if you were to micromanage the reward track constantly, as long as you have more points than needed to complete the track on its end, you will “lose” some points onto that garbage track. You get irregular numbers if you use a booster or your participation isn’t 100%. So you can either continue the track or switch again (And your points fall into limbo) and hope it doesn’t happen again.

Now to be fair, this is specifically a WvW problem because it updates constantly, and it also keeps going regardless if you open chests or not.

Yeah, it does warrant bringing it up in the QoL section instead of under some whiny-ranty anti-content topic title. :P
But I’ve got no dog in that race, so I figure someone else will.

Sure, it’s a matter of reward track design as opposed to something bad about SAB. I guess it hurts more because the track will disappear soon.

But yea, the problem’s annoyed me enough to get me a gift of battle or two I didn’t want. Should be able to sell those things.
