New player question

I got a Swift Moa Feather as a reward from the Memories of Scarlet Box during the Mordremoth’s Minions Invade Tyria event. I noticed that they are currently priced at 80 silver. For an item that gives 30m of swiftness, why does it have a high price?

No point asking here tbh as they answer has already been given over on your Reddit post.

If I had to guess, I’d say it’s probably because it’s one of the few ways to get a movespeed increase for Mesmers and Guardians that doesn’t require spamming Swiftness skills (which can still leave you with dead space), yet its supply is tightly limited.

Still seems a bit weird, though, I agree.

I main Ele and Necro, though I have an alt of each profession at level 80.

I had just one and so I figured it was better to just sell the thing that to stash it/use it given I only had one of the things.

I was kinda surprised to see them sell for so much, though I completely understand how some classes have little mobility and something like that is very handy.

luckily I take only swiftness booster for storyline rewards, they seem the most useful for power clearing maps.

30 minutes of swiftness is a fair amount of time. It doesn’t say it’s disabled in WvW. If it’s good there then that’s worth another utility slot or a different weapon set.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

It’s not even swiftness. It’s a 10% movement increase.

Guaranteed swiftness for 30 minutes? Other consumables offer an increasing chance, on a kill, to gain a whole 10 seconds of swiftness.

I don’t know about anyone else, but its one of the few utility item’s that I would use a Utility Primer on.

I’m thinking about buying it. Since I’m getting tired of missing jump in harpy fractal. But it’s only 10%, so never mind.

I sold one for 2 gold~ That was when people were trying to farm the weekend event and had to dash and tag to get their 20 stacks.

Many alts; handle it!

They’re expensive because Swift Moas are extremely hard to catch.

probably because there are only 600 on the market. And once they are gone, they are probably gone. Unless Anet release it again.

I think some NPC used to sell them. But it is removed. Some hoarders might have some stock in their bag.

The item is probably not very useful though, since I think it’s only 10%. Most class have 25% passive skill anyway.
