Why are laurel rewards so lackluster?
I don’t know about you but I burned my first 5 laurels on dyes. I like dyes and I’d rather only splurge on the one really rare one I need at a time what with some dyes going for 5+ gold.
That’s hard for me to come by since dungeons frustrate me easily. Hard to run a lot of them on a janky computer.

Really? I find the minipets quite hiliarious.

To touch on that, why does it take 20 or possibly 30 days to get a ring? When it only takes 10 days to buy one running daily fractals, even less if you do more than one.

See it as an extra, I guess?

This has been discussed. It’s a more passive road to ascended gear so of course it’ll take longer. At least that’s my view of it. I don’t mind waiting for it since getting into fractals seems to be a hell of a trial for me and I already get super-easily frustrated with dungeons everywhere else.

It’s an extra if for dailies you’d be getting relics instead on a whole new currency.
That’s the only funny thing I find about it.
It doesn’t touch me, I already have more rings than characters I can use them on, but I do see a potential problem for someone who does not.

we have to do things others may qualify as “evil”.

Some people don’t want to do Fractals; I would know, I’m one of them.
Another hint would be that you no longer do fractals to complete your Monthly achievements.

Fine that’s an excellent alternative, I don’t think you understood my argument tho, it takes 10 days to get it through fractals, that’s assuming you run once a day. It would take me 3 days, for some, it would take one, one day, so why does one have to spend 20 to 30 days to get something, that could have been gotten by day 10, my argument is, rings should be 10 laurels, maximum amount of time it would have taken you to get it normal way.
It’s because this is the gear treadmill outside of FotM. It’s all about the next tier of gear with a higher power level. It’s all about grinding for a future fun reward and all the other things they said this game was not about. This is a cheap take on progression but logically consistent. Why would you expect to find anything different on the vendors?
I don’t know, it just doesn’t seem fair to me, you guys do realise I’m arguing for the side of people who don’t have these rings, I do, it doesn’t touch me, however I’m not one to be ignorant.
I’m going to buy those minis, they look nice, plus they’ll be useful when polymock comes around.
The harvesting tools have large stacks and uncover rare components, those I’ll take.
When I saw the gear boxes, the first thing I thought was ectos, so I like those.
A place to get dyes, at last, since the world drops have become stupidly rare.
The items I care less about though…
The obsidian shards seem useful to players who give a kitten about the legendaries.
The crafting bags seem a waste, to me.
The boosts are alright, though personally I’d only go for them when I feel I have laurels to spare them.
And the ascended items, meh, I guess I’d eventually get to them, but I’d rather spend my laurels on the more sought after items. Maybe I’ll do fractals, I don’t know, I’ll see.
I like most of the options there, it seems balanced. I’d like to see more items added though, and more ways to get laurels.
I don’t see anything wrong with the options for cashing out Laurels for 30+ silver worth of goods. That’s a substantial boost to the incomes of casual players, and gives an outlet for Laurels in the long run, for players who have all the amulets they want.

I think you’re looking at this the wrong way. Think about how much effort it takes to go through the required fractals in those 10 days to get the rewards. Now look at the amount of effort it takes to get a laurel. Dailies/monthlies are simple to complete and generally finished without a second thought. I think they’re gauging it more on effort exerted than on real-time to get them.
Short term: ascended stuff
Midlong term: crafting stuff
Long term: minis and tonic
Cash conversion: gear/crafting boxes.
There will be a day when everyone has the stuff they need from laurels. Because of that, these boxes exist to create a form of cash conversion. That’s smart thinking.

Everything in the laurel merchant is essentially worthless other than the Ascended amulets/rings.
In fact, the only other things in the laurel merchant that might be worth buying are the coin/karma boosters since they are cheap.
But everything? Utter junk. 3 random mats? 2 profession specific items (rare and exotic)? None of these are worth the laurels. It just seems that the laurel vendor is a vehicle to sell you ascended equipment.
That is really funny because the only things I am not interested in are the rings/amulets.
I guess players are different and attach importance to different things- and no, I do not have ascended items yet because I don’t do dungeons- when I have all the other cool things I want, I might consider getting them for laurels.
I love the fact that at least now I have an option to get it if I wanted- before I was just left out.
Hopefully later today I will have 5 laurels and then I’m getting me some dyes! whoo- hoo

Because doing daily achievements is much easier and shorter than doing fractals.
Also, you people are incredibly ungrateful. You get a new reward added to your daily achievement. You’re getting extra reward, plain and simple. And then you complain and say it’s not enough.
Why [do I think] laurel rewards [are] so lackluster?
Fixed the question you’re really posing.
As for the answer: I don’t know why you think that, I find them just a nice bonus to having fun playing the game, and since it has increased the number of peeps out in open world, they’re awesome.
