Why are ley lines so frustrating?
I always tell people who havnt gotten to ley line flying yet, they are either a blessing or a curse.
Falling out of them? Sometimes I can’t leave a Ley Line even when I want to!
Half the time they drop you out, what game are you playing, I need to pray to Abaddon to get out, I can’t get out without disabling the glider, and I always get sucked in when I’m half a map away.
It’s especially bad in Ember Bay and Bloodstone Fen, you get sucked in all kinds of directions
Yeah they are a bit awkward. Just like how the double bounce in the mushrooms is awkward
Try joining the line from slightly above it — if you join from below, it’s hard to stay connected, when it zigs or zags.
I was thinking, a good way would be a stronger connection to the leyline, while simoultaneously, pressing S (slow-glide) would push you out.
That helps both parties who have trouble staying in, or getting out
If you have a high ping, it’s possible to go right through a ley line. It doesn’t matter what you do, by time your client registers the ley line, you’re already falling out of it. Ley lines are basically a chain of AoEs that tell you to propel forwards, so whenever you lag through one, you have a high chance of falling out. On the plus side, you can lag through an updraft and fly into space.

Yes, I purposefully have not gotten them after hearing how much trouble they were causing. Twelve mastery points to sometimes wish I did not have the mastery? No thanks.
If you have all five Ley-line gliding skills, number five (turbo boost) will also push you out of the ley line.
For the most part they work fine for me, but the one in the upper right corner of AB going to burnisher quarry does not. I would say that about 50% of the time I try to use it, it will throw me straight into the ledge instead of on top of the ledge, which ends in my character falling down and having to walk all the way back to the start of the leyline to try to get across again.
I’ve no idea what I must be doing differently, but I’ve not once had a problem with them. I just glide above one and sit back with a coffee while it takes me to wherever it goes. I find the opposite problem, where getting out is harder as you have to disable the glider and drop quite a bit below before it lets you out and doesn’t suck you back in. In places like Bloodstone Fen I find getting accidently sucked into the ley lines a pain as well, as the detection radius of them seems quite big.
Ley lines are more like ley tubes. As long as you stay above or within the diameter of the tube, it will continue to propel you along its path. If you drift or fall too far below or to the side of it, you’ll lose it’s propulsion and return to normal gliding behavior.
For entering/exiting, some of them seem to be more finicky than others, and might be due to the graphics for a few of the ley lines not aligning as closely with the actual path in some locations.

Too bad many of the leylines are placed just a bit too high to do that consistently. Ultimately that might be the answer to OPs question.
