I’ve not been playing very much since I started and missed all of the good items. There’s a couple of things I would like to buy from there but they’re no longer for sale. It’s not like fake digital items can go out of stock so what is the point? There’s maybe some justification for seasonal items being on sale at certain times but none of what I want is xmas themed.

It’s to make a bigger demend, when the items are put back in. Most of the discontinued items will find its way back at some time.

Psychology

An unchanging store is a boring store that no one ever checks past the front page. Why should they? They already know what’s in it.

An item that’s always for sale is an item that be bought tomorrow, or the next day, or next month, or maybe never. An item that’s been gone and comes back is interesting because it’s “new” and since it will be gone shortly people know they need to buy it now because if they don’t it will be gone. If it’s a situation where it’s gone periodically it’s best to buy even if you’re only slightly interested as it likely will not be there when you do want it.

It also provides ANet a pool of items that they can rotate in without needing to produce brand new items every week.

Some are seasonally rotated, some are thematic, some are likely rotated out because their sales are low.

I didn’t even know Bacon/Lettuce/Tomato/Cucumber items were a thing in this game. I must have been living under a rock for the last few years.
