Why are transmuations locked?

So I haven’t played in a long time because all my friends quit, but some other friends now want to play. Was happy to come back and see a lot has changed especially in terms of how armor customization works now. However I was a bit disappointed to see that armor transmutation was still locked by type. Personally I really want to play a warrior I love their move sets and how they play however am not a big fan of the majority of their armor appearances. On the other hand I love a lot of the medium/light armor appearances, but the play style of the classes that use those I don’t care for. Personally I don’t think it would largely impact the game, and would like to be able to see armor be transmuted to any armor appearance for greater character customization. Anyone else feel this way?

There are issues with mixing the meshes of different armor types.

Because we can’t be angry about both?

There are issues with mixing the meshes of different armor types.

Issues falling in the range of ‘completely freaking impossible to address’. The different armor weights literally cannot ‘fit’ together on the same character as they are currently made, they will clip, leave blank faces, and completely screw up animations. To address all that would basically require they heavily modify or remake every model, texture, and animation connected with player character assets to fit one pattern. And all that change would in fact, lead to far more homogenization of armor assets than it would diversity.

Sorry, we all know it sounds cool, but it just ’aint possible.
