Why are we being measured?
Oh mercy, if you’d asked that question before the dunegon nerf qq, you’d get all kinds of elitist responses about “it’s the only way to ensure good groups” even though the correlation between AP and “player skill” (whatever that’s supposed to mean) is stupidly low.
But, now that speedrun content is dead(ish), so.. I guess they moved that on to Fractal LFGs. I’ve no idea, because my guild doesn’t pull that crap. :P

AP makes your muscles bigger and your abs tighter.
On that note: 20k AP reward should give a /flex emote
It’s really just measuring how much content a player has done. Doesn’t mean anything else.
Don’t feel you have to compare yourself to collectors or obsessives. Do your thing and feel good about what you have done, and let others do theirs.
Edit: and maybe what Doggie said.
Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?
I think partially there will be less people caring about AP if it is not displayed. It’s kind of vanity thing. And that vanity is used as a reward.

This. My experience doesn’t change just because I’m playing on my secondary account (4k AP) instead of my main account (21k AP). I’ve been kicked from dungeon and fractals groups before even fully loading in because my AP is “too low, noob”. Oh well, their loss.
In spite of my experiences, I do glance at peoples’ AP when in a pug group, simply to get an idea of whether I should ask if anyone is new to the path (I automatically ask if I see someone with <1k AP in the group). I sincerely enjoy helping other people, but would like to have some warning prior to our first oops situation
A proud altaholic and cartographer.
I’ve seen a lot of players with 10k+ AP in fractals that are really, really, really bad. I don’t know why I can see party that wanted to do it with “only X+ AP players” since this have nothing to do with skilled players. It just made me laugh.
I just run into fractals and it’s almost the only thing I do when i’m in the game. I don’t know how I can earn so much AP since I don’t really do other content. That’s why AP is totally irrelevant.
