Why would someone take the time to do dynamic events? specifically the ones that do not give a chest. I am not talking about world bosses, but just the inconsequential-Xp, less coin than the cost of a waypoint, dribble of karma, dynamic events.

And don’t tell me because they’re fun, there is plenty of more rewarding fun in this game. For instance grinding a portal key in SW.

Well sorry, but I do do them because they are fun. I’m there, they happen, I do them. I don’t particularly find grinding is SW any more fun, just more frantic.

Me personally;

1- I enjoy them. Simple as that, I find many fun. Sure they aren’t rewarding (looks to change in HoT), but there are some very good ones I have thoroughly enjoyed the gameplay and story of. eg the long chain to rescue the captured charr in Fireheart

2 – They are a good source of xp when levelling and make map exploration less tedious and choreful by breaking it up.

I’d like to see more and more specifically more longer, branching chains, but the game is moving away from that now.

I like just walking across a zone and taking part in the various things that are happening, sometimes they’ll chain into something with a champ and multiple players will gather together to take it on, it’s a fun dynamic

Sometimes high level sw events are fun. Sometimes low level events are fun. They tell a story, tell lore, the things the NPCs say are often funny, can do mid level farming for mats you need.

It’s not always about the money, unless for you, it’s always about the money.

Not everyone plays for rewards or profit. It’s simple as that.

Kind of a meaningless question when you negate one of the main aspects.

Apparently, according to op, the rest of us aren’t having any fun at all.

Asura characters: Zerina | Myndee | Rissa | Jaxxi | Feyyt | Bekka | Sixx | Akee | Tylee | Nuumy
| Claara
Your skin will wrinkle and your youth will fade, but your soul is endless.

Thank you all for playing, it helps me a lot.
so far the consensus is the only reason to do dynamic events is Fun. Whatever fun is… kinda vague

I do them to cause people like the OP to ask such questions. It seems the OP thinks their opinion of what is or isn’t fun and what is or isn’t rewarding applies to everyone.

Finding something rewarding is also very subjective. IMO when playing a video game, fun should be the primary reward. If I am not having fun doing what I’m doing then the other rewards attached to that activity don’t mean much to me.

Those not at Dry Top and Silver Wastes in vanila areas that have not been upgraded tend to lack any meaningful rewards.
Their primary reward would have been the Karma you gain, but as we all know, it currently has little value…

…and don’t be toxic!

Karma having little value depends. I’m trying to get all karma armor and weapons the game has to sell. The most expensive cultural weapons are 63k each which means just 6 of them is 252k karma. I quickly burned through the karma I had at those prices.

Other people have posted ways to make gold with karma, for those interested in that.

Not sure if serious, what with the comment about grinding portal keys being taken as fun, but …

Because — when I play — I play to enjoy what I’m doing, not to follow a herd around to different maps chasing loot bags. I’ve yet to get any loot in this game that generated a better reaction than, “Oh, that’s a little better than the usual kitten.” Why on earth should I chase that?

If anything SW is TOO rewarding. Either it will need to be extremely reduced (events and the buried chests) or one of two things will happen:

1) People will just continue to farm SW after HoT comes out, assuming the content is still available as-is.
2) The loot earned from HoT zones will be absurd. Given that I can get 100 champ bags from a chest train in an hour in SW, I can’t imagine them increasing loot elsewhere to get people out of that zone.

You don’t have to go full out but you create characters on their heroic journey. Therefore saving people by fending off creatures is really your characters motivation, reward should be secondary. And that was the point of my previous post.

Of course if you are a max level hero, you might skip ones being handled by lower level heroes to go after the ones with better reward and only help out once in a while (10 minutes until boss spawns).

We are heroes. This is what we do!

All this time, I thought I was having fun. I guess not, if Reanne says so. Also, it was one of the big selling arguments of the game back in 2012. I love doing these when leveling up, or doing map exploration.

I agree with the OP here. I find them boring and generally worthless unless they spawn something I need to farm. Fun is subjective though so who knows what the OP does for fun, personally its not this game for me, I just do dailies.

DEs give ~7% experience for completion. Find a chain of short, easily soloable DEs, and you can level pretty god kitten fast.
