So is the Mystic Forge gonna be the end all be all for Spirit Shards? I have over 700 of these things and there’s for me to do with them. I’m not making a legendary or crafting ascended gear, because I personally think that a lot of the legendary weapons are too silly looking and 5% in stats isn’t enough of a reason for me to farm for it.

Will you give us something else to spend these things on? I don’t care if it’s just crappy gear. Just don’t screw it up by not letting people put it in the Mystic Forge. Same thing with Karma. Get rid of this stupid limitation on Karma. We can buy exotics with the same stats from the Trading Post quicker than you can farm up the amount of Karma needed to buy a full set of temple gear.

We get it. In the beginning people made a lot of gold with Karma and you didn’t expect or anticipate that it would get out of hand as bad as it did or you didn’t think that Karma would be more valuable than gold. But it’s been a while now. With the upcoming expansion people are going to be blowing lots of money on new stuff and still amassing more Karma since there’s still nothing to spend it on. Spirit Shards will still stack up since people PvP and collect them.

You’re gonna get us visited by the 3 Christmas ghosts by making us hoard all of this stuff.

Odd I just made 300g this month buying ectos and turning them into exotics… I must be doing something wrong.

I don’t really understand the title of this thread. Spirit Shards are now found in the Wallet. What’s keeping the OP from holding them?

As far as spending them goes….who knows? There may be new things to spend all manner of current and future currencies on.

The only other things you used skill points for besides MF were things you now get just from leveling up and using help points. If you came this far not complaining about extra skill points, you should consider you now have more of what you had before since you would’ve likely used some of your skill point scrolls for getting actual skills on some of your characters.

Just do whatever you have been doing with extra skill point scrolls up to this point. And if you were hoarding them, don’t complain like your situation has changed. Take the initiative and trade your shards in for sellable items so you can get more gold to buy whatever you like.

Fortunately, only 11 of the 78 recipes need a stack of ectos.

I didnt check profit margins on the weapons but there there shouldnt be any, its probably due to the recent price increase of ectos. Those weapons move alot slower than ectos, so they need some time to adjust.

shards : craft superior siege. sell . get gold.

karma : buy light armor. mf them.salvage. get cloth. sell for gold.

The only reason we have spirit shards is because ArenaNet wanted to get rid of skill points. Just ignore them in your wallet OP.

I’d hold on to them at least till HoT, you never know what they’ll be useful for.
But then again, I’m a hoarder, so I’ll probably hold on to them after that too.

The title is misleading. There is no limit on how many spirit shards you can hold in the wallet (as far as we know), so it’s not as if you’re forced to use them. And even if you feel that compulsion, there are ways to use them as others have stated.

Ok? I was offering a suggestion. Those are skins you can spend your spirit shards on if you like the way they look. There are plenty of people who use and/or make gold off of their spirit shards. So I don’t understand your complaint or question. You know that new skins are coming with the expansion so your best option is probably to just hold onto them.

I have no clue, the OP was complaining about 700 SS’s…that’s chump change to some of us around here as you well know.

Yep, asking for what to do with 700 spirit shards when he has no use for them is definitely the reason to tell him to wait when he has 4K of more of these useless things.

Am I the only one thinking it’s better to wait for HoT and potential new sources/sinks of spirit shards before going on a spending spree?

Would love to do that, but that requires too many clicks, since Anet still hasn’t given us a way to either do batches of known/explicit recipes or even given us a way to do a # of them (like we can with crafting).
