Why can't we slide on ice like in SAB?
Mesmer Blink and then you can skate on any (flat) surface.
It would be too confusing to new players. Slippery ice doesn’t make sense.

I’m usually really sweet… but this an internet forum and you know how it has to be.

Your idea contains fun. Management will consider it for early Q4 2019.
In beta I ran out excitedly onto the ice in Hoelbrak. And wept softly into a tissue when it acted just like nice solid full-of-friction land. I was so hoping this game would have environmental effects on movement.
I have no idea. I think that would be lots of fun! Maybe they could make an ice skating rink to let us slide around on. Or even Ski Slops. Heck, we had this type of stuff in City of Heroes, don’t see why not here.

It would require some map tweaking around Vistas and Jumping Puzzles, but I fully support slippery ice.
Things might get a tad trickier if they decide to add proper convection (in regards to heat transfer) though…
Perhaps the only RP-oriented guild on the server

They already have the code etc. It would be so fun to have this. I am trying to imagine a frustrating, long, and hard ice-slippery jumping puzzle
JP???!! Why waste such a good thing for JPs… i want it on WvW! xD
I agree this would be a really cool mechanic to have. Although maybe not on the snow/ice bridges in EOTM.
I’d also like to see fast moving water actually push you in the direction it’s travelling. I always expect it to happen in games (not sure why, it’s relatively rare) and get surprised and a bit disappointed when it doesn’t happen. I remember spending ages hiking along the edge of a river in Skyrim looking for a safe place to cross before it occurred to me that they probably hadn’t programmed the physics, so I took a chance and was actually disappointed that I could stand in the middle of the rapids with no trouble. I do the same quite often in GW2, I jump into flowing water and expect it to push me along, not to be able to move just like on land.

This would be far too great.
also blizzards. similar to Dry Top, except white instead of yellow
Mystic’s Gold Profiting Guide
Forge & more JSON recipes
That awkward moment when SAB has better physics than real game XD
If you think slippery ice in games is “fun”, you haven’t played enough platformers.

SMB 3. I. HATE. It.
Seriously, it will be really funny during the frozen maw boss event, folks sliding all over the frozen lake XD

They can also do dense fog for ghostly areas. I love that kind of scene because it reminds me of Silent Hill. X3

I am happy that my character innately knows how to run across ice without slipping.
I would not find it “fun” to slip on the ice as I’m trying to run to an event.

It would still feel relevant and realistic :S
obviously development in the last 250 years has seen improvement in boots to a point where automatic ground surface detection analysis (AGSDA) has reached a point, thanks to the overwhelming efforts of (likely) the Asura to deploy studs on contact of any slippery surface, such implementations are now so wide spread it comes as default standard in your boots.
Who are we to argue with 250 years of boot evolution, 250 years ago your ancestors had a place they could skate too, after some really savage injuries the ice was put under a good layer of solid effluent never to be slid sliding on again.
If you wish to partake in such dangerous activities may I suggest that the clever Asura (ArenaNet) whom saved countless lives with there AGSDA Boots, develop set of skiing boots, with a personal shield to keep the body parts inside at ALL times.

Nice try, but until I start sliding on ice when my boots break I won’t buy it .
How competitive could a pvp map like this (21:00-) be?
