Really not much else to say aside from the title. I can’t think of a reason that we shouldn’t be able to salvage these.

Because karma is so easy to get, and there are people with, literally, millions of points of karma. If they could change that directly into cloth/metal/whatever it would certainly affect the economics of the TP.

Alright then, how about exotics only? I’m sick of having to throw away level 80 exotic equipment with a rune in it when I get ascended gear to replace my exotic set.

Plus silk and linen could probably use a cut in price. Compared to their metal/leather equivalents they’re over the top in cost.

Because of the extra ectos that it would also introduce into the economy. I get what you are saying about trashing a rune. Perhaps a better solution would be to just allow you to remove the rune, and receive nothing else?

I know. I was just trying not to completely dismiss his sentiment. Besides, it never hurts to restate a good idea

Weapons bought with WvW badges used to be able to be salvageable, via the Mystic Forge, way back, in the mists of time (throw four in, salvage what you get out). The last I heard a dev was looking into why we cant any more. That was when I was still young, and not the shell of a man I have become!
