Why can you buy Legendarys on the TP ?
That would be a good idea for a new weapon. Cant buy the mats for it, cant sell the mats for it, cant buy it on TP, theres no way to get it other than playing the game.
They have enough of that already, more stuff should be tradeable, not less.
Why? To encourage gem buying.
- Colin Johanson while spamming key 1 in GW2
but thats really not epic, the best weapon in the game should be bind to account when you craft it.
this is not WoW with soulbound items once picked up (most useless thing imho).
Sfr
but there still is souldbound items… so the game has to be WoW in order to make legendarys bound to account ? that seems strange…
but thats really not epic, the best weapon in the game should be bind to account when you craft it.
Why?
If someone buys their weapon skin with gold does it make yours less epic?
If I make myself a Ferrari in my garage I’ll still think its epic, even if my rich neighbor bought 2 or 3 by getting rich on all the crazy wall-street stuff.

I love that idea! But it doesn’t make ANet money so that idea would be shot down.
The Legendaries are a bloody joke in this game…… Those TP barons have so much gold they could make them like nothing and make massive profits. All legendaries are are sign of how much you gold you farmed/bought nothing more. Now if they don’t want to change Legendaries to soulbound and unsellable they should at least have the “Crafted by blah blah” tag on it so I know you didn’t craft it at least :/
Well I for one am not about to run around for months on end spending money left right and center on the “hope” of getting a a legendary. I will just save up and buy one when the price is right for me.
Its called “choice”.
the whole game is kinda build around play how you want… and the ppl who are awsome at the tp why shouldnt they be allowed to buy a legendary with their hard earned gold?.
They are a couple thousand gold. Anyone with that much gold put a ton of work into that, either that or they are rich and bought the gold. Either way I see no issue.

Dude if you made your own fully functional Ferrari and it was a perfect replica I would give you insane respect over your richy kitteny neighbor who just bought his… I wouldn’t have that much of a problem with the lame legendaries in this game if it was like that but its not.
choice is, if you dont want to work for a legendary, then there is many exotics you can get instead…
choice is, if you dont want to work for a legendary, then there is many exotics you can get instead…
That not choice, thats forced to use 3rd best equipment. See this is whats wrong with games these days, far to many elitist who think they are the bee’s knee’s and no-one else is allowed to do the same.
ITS A GAME. We all paid for the same content, we are all entitled to utilise said content any way the developers allow us. That means we can buy Legendaries and Ascended gear.
Frankly; Deal with it.
Its not very Legendary if I can buy it. They should change the Legendary tag to Expensive so they can make true Legendaries that are truly legendary and unique to acquire not this store bought garbage, something worthy of the tag Legendary.
u need to understand the nature of a “f2p” game…. that is why ppl dont understand the stupidity of the new content….. they try to keep ppl busy so they spend more money on their gem store….they try to herd ppl with uselees content… make everything harder so ppl r busy for a longer time….
ppl also think anet releases content for free… wake up plz…. nothing is for free….
.. their goal is to make money by selling gems for real money…… so if u r rich….. u can just buy it….
Lexandro thats why i left World of Warcarft, lets give players everything ! so that no one have awesome stuff. Yes you have payed for the game, so you are allowed to do the content… you should not have a reward for something you havent done….
I bought GW1 for hall of monuments, now give me my rewards i payed the same as every one else, why should i work for it when i already payed ?
Since they do allow you to sell legendaries, which are composed of soulbound and account bound items, they should also allow you to sell those items individually.
Why not allow someone to, for example, sell their gifts of exploration directly. Doing so would probably get more people spread out throughout the zones, as long as the incentive (value of them) was big enough and further reward those that just continuously replay the game because they like to.
but i just think it’s sad that they are on the trading post, because it’s really the only “hardcore” there is to go after…

I have 8 of those waiting to be sold if they did do that!!! Soon it will be 12!
If you could buy one directly from the gem store I would see a problem.
As it is, some player some where went through the work to create said Legendary.
Hard to obtain Legendarys = Sellable.
Hard to obtain Mini Pets = Account Bound.
Wut?

Exactly. Its not a store purchase, its buying from another player who went out and made one. They deserve to be compensated for the effort. The poeple complaining are infact elitists who dont want anyone with the same gear as them. Its frankly none of your buisness how anyone else gets a legendary item.
If YOU dont want to pay for one, thats fine. Just go craft one.
Problem solved.
so you should be able to get a reward that you havent worked for ? Sounds more like casuals crying, that they want the best items but not work for it…
I think it was a poor choice naming those skins “Legendary” if they knew they were going to implement them this way. Based off the definition of the word, there isn’t anything legendary about the actual item, no lore is attached, nothing. They’re just really really expensive skins. Most of this game’s hurdles/goals can be surpassed with gold and I think that is why some people can’t respect Legendaries.
really they should just be marked as “Rare exotics” or “Epic” because if you are able to just be them off the trading post then there really arent any legendary about them.

Its a weapon, in a computer game. It is not a pulitzer, nor a nobel prize. It is not a “reward” its just an animated skin. Selling unique skins was the sole reason for sales in GW1, there are zero point otherwise as every lvl 20 weapon be it blue/gold or green had the same stat combinations. This trend has continued to GW2, where once you have the stats the only thing to consider is your looks in the game.
Again the only people here complaining are elitists who dont want anyone else with the same stuff as them.
I think it was an attempt to make precursors cheaper.

yes you should not be able to have a legendary Lexandro, legendary is there to be special ! there is nothing special about them if anyone has them.
yes you should not be able to have a legendary Lexandro, legendary is there to be special ! there is nothing special about them if anyone has them.
Its not special in itself its just a couple of pixels. Really I have to wonder at some folks. This is an MMO people, there are millions of players. Your so called “special” item is in the hands of hundreds of thousands of players. It is not “unique”, its just a fancy skin.
Who are you to say that a player is not allowed to have a particular item? What gives you the right to say that player X is not “worthy” of owning it?
In short; Its for sale in TP, its going to stay that way. Get over it.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. There is NOTHING legendary about a grind for items. That’s all it is. One big massive grind to get the items to make it.
I don’t agree OP – practically everything should be tradeable. Being able to say you made it yourself is charming, but hardly helps define an item as “Legendary”.
And given how I feel about the reward systems of GW2, I’d argue that buying a “Legendary” is the most respectable way to acquire one. Anything you can do to distance yourself from the RNG lottery of the Mystic Toilet or the inanities of token collecting (an activity that should be reserved for cereal packets) is good.
Bottom line is – if you bought it, you know you acquired it on your terms, with wealth you earned, and didn’t jump through any hoops you didn’t want to.
so everyone should have everything ! lets hand out legendarys to anyone !
There’s a slight difference between “sell for 1500 gold” and “hand out”.
Getting a legendary doesn’t make you legendary, regardless how you obtained it.
“Legendary” is just the name of a tier that indicates its rarity, not that obtaining it requires a legendary action.
so everyone should have everything ! lets hand out legendarys to anyone !
No, but you can buy it if you like…
Why is this so odd for some folks to comprehend?

Even if you craft it yourself, you’re just buying most of the mats off of the TP. The only parts you do yourself are the 1mil karma, dungeon gift, gift of battle and 340 skill points, all of which are easier than farming the gold for mats and pre cursor.
I think its fine. Legendaries are just a large gold sink anyway. If people can sell them then the tax is applied to that sale as well as the mat sales, so it’s more effective.
To me the hardest part about legendary is getting the 1000+ gold of material required for legendary. So ya, even if you craft it yourself you can still buy your way to legendary.
You know. There are many valuable, practically one of a kind, “legendary” items in real life that do fetch high prices…
so you should be able to get a reward that you havent worked for ? Sounds more like casuals crying, that they want the best items but not work for it…
Oh, and one doesn’t have to “work” to grind 1500 gold? What makes gold in this game less legitimate?
The only crier is you, since you’re the one complaining about the current system and arbitrarily decided that the trading post is somehow not the proper way.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.

choice is, if you dont want to work for a legendary,
You don’t work for your legendary. You play with and pray to the RNG gods for your precursor.
THEN, maybe you work toward your legendary. Beyond the precursor though, it’s all RNG baby. No playing the game, no work, no reward for effort.
Just roll the dice and lose, over and over and over until you say, yeah, sure, I’ll take an exotic because the legendary is simply not worth it. There’s no work about it, it’s all RNG.
Pointless thread. they won’t change it at least not any time soon. Why bother?
No offense
I guess some people would rather just save up the gold and buy it outright instead of having to deal with the complexity/tediousness of having to collect all the ingredients and then deal with the Mystic Forge. As long as they don’t get too expensive I honestly forsee myself just playing the game and saving gold to buy one outright (may take a while but it doens’t really bother me). Just think of it as having more options.

I WISH you could sell the components to make a legendary, as I have no intention of making one. At least as they are now. Either fugly or stupid looking crap shooting rainbows and eee eee eeeing unicorns. As it stands, I have em collecting dust on the off chance they make new legendaries that don’t suck pucker.
Yeah, they need to do something about legendaries. Seen a few people rage over the chat channel when nobody took notice of their legendary, and I was right next to a couple of them when they started their rage. I don’t even know what a legendary looks like.

I was just checking them all in the TP. Suffice to say, I’m not terribly interested in the short bow. Though I’d be happy to see it wielded by some huge, burly Norn male.
I don’t mind them on the TP personally – some enterprising soul has gone out & farmed, & thus, deserves all the gold they can get. (unless they botted and/or hacked to get there, in which case, may they toast in a fiery pit) If they weren’t 1400 minimum, I’d want one (if they looked like… well, weapons instead of… whatever they are now. I guess I’m not as whimsical as I’d imagined. The design of these did exceed my Whimsy Cap.)
so why cant i trade mining picks, when im able to sell legendarys on Trading post ?
