Its not fully Anets fault alot of it is the way people just work, but quality control and what seems like laziness on their part does seem to lead Early birds to catch the worm. Or people who can by chance make it to one event regardless of time played/level of character or work put into said event chain/special event to benefit greatly over other players/the community.

Now I’m sure people see it as overacting but Ill just take the recent canachs lair story mode ‘exploit’ as an example. People see a farm spot so farm it on alts, the normal users who play the game the way Anet intend people to play it don’t do this or think of it. And miss out. And lets not even mention someone who got the bugged no reward story mission and by time they learnt about it being character not account bound its been fixed so they get nothing after cheeky people got countless gold rewards from farming it earlier that evening.

We can look back to the Karka event last winter, there was alot of rage about that but imo it was warranted, Myself I done all the events played all the week but real-life called on the Sunday night and I had to go out (not to mention it happened at like 11pm on a Sunday night for people who work that’s iffy time) and missed that one event, couldn’t get back to do it in-time and it started to get janky/bug out and missed the rain of precursor others got who alot had just bought the game or played 10hrs previous.
Throw in the RNG of mystic forge, with most longtime players having to do insane grind to get the money for precursors cause we had no luck throwing hundreds of gold at the mystic forge, or because we just know we will never get one, yet someone who just tried twice gets Dusk and its all a bit to much.

I’m aware my post reeks of elitism, I played X hours and that lowly slob played Y hours how dare he have better loot then me. I know why people come to that conclusion and I see it all the time, but its just a lazy way of looking at it and its honestly not where I’m coming from nor where the people I know and play with come from either. Its just got to the stage where its like, what is the point? really any worthwhile work or grind or aim in the game is pointless as it is trivial when you see someone get the same reward for doing 5mins work that took you 8 months.

I know Gw2 is casual and that’s great, but its so extreme the fact you can get item X from 5mins work for player A or several months work for player B, the randomness of it just ruins the game and way grind works in the game tbh.
Why does everything have to be random why cant we have solid guaranteed rewards that can take alot of work but is the same for everyone, Everyone likes a level playing field because its fair.
Real life aint fair look at politicians and corrupt bankers compared to the average Joe worker. Why cant we make our game we use to escape that world be fair?

TLDR; I hate RNG and its not a healthy game economy.

i perfectly know the feeling, i was in the karka events, and i get a pair of gloves or leggins, i can’t even remember with the rune of travellers, or dolyak. no precursor. so when you talk about rains of precursor i don’t know what you mean.

the new skin… the same friend of mine have 2 fused and 1 sclerite (and a mystic forged precursor). i’m happy for him but i’m sick of luck account bound.
luck should be for everyone!

As a casually minded player who isn’t massively skilled at challenging content..I’d still prefer to see solid guaranted rewards over RNG. Or at least an RNG system which isn’t so ridiculous. We’ve moved on from RNG, yet it is worse here than it was in mmos nearly a decade ago.

the saving grace is ofc that nothing is NEEDED. But a more sensible approach is needed. It’s great it is feeding the game economically (in real terms), but I’m unconvinced it can sustain this long term, ie over the course of the next few years
