When its comes to armors..Ppl actually are sick of the limited armor varienty for charrs, tons of them has clipping issues mostly with tail, helemts which hides horns and such..Yet the new armor..also has clipping issues and no hole for tail at all.

Do they completely don’t care about charrs? What was the point in making them playable race if they don’t care about them. Is making a single hole for tail is too much work or something? For me with new armors they actually proved that we won’t ever see current armors made properly for us.

It is a strange, some armors have a tail hole WITH a flap that goes over the tail. While others, nothing.

Yeah, about that one and i don’t think that any changes will be make to that.. Check i don’t even care about these ugly sets, just the fact that they ignore charrs again.

We’ve been complaining about it for awhile and there has yet to be a response past fixing a few issues with the Tier 2 helmet.

We are not going to get our clipping issue fixes and I am sure that future armor will continue to ignore the issue.

Forever stuck in Tier 3 armor as a Charr heavy. Forever using the medium CoE coat as a charr thief.

We really are stuck using the same garbage. We are locked into our extremely limited armor sets because of the careless, lazy designs. As if Charr didn’t have enough reasons to be hated. This game looks like GW1 with all the female humans running around.

It sorta feels like Humans are Anet’s glory child, race-wise. I guess they’re the easiest to model.

Totaly agree. Charrs are ignored and they took easy route by just streching armors form human model to charr. Only armor that looks good for me and is well desingned is cultural heavy T3, but it still have clipping issue with most faces ( tested with total make over kit). And dont get me started on charr animation when he have weapon but no weapon in hands ( in Dragon Ball arena for example)- my charr run like cow.

A game that is heavy oriented in cosmetic grinding should have that on priority. If they don’t care even about that they i don’t know what to say.

I know that other races have problems as well, but charr got it worse of them all, resulting in simply the fact that charr is the least played race

You only need to look at the T3 charr cultural light armor in order to see they didn’t really bothered with tail/horn clipping in general.

Charr honestly need a bit of love armor wise, stretching an armor isn’t going to cut it most of the time.

It’s not my fault if S/P is not popular !!!

I find that perhaps, if a game team can’t properly do stuff, then they shouldn’t dream big and have things half-baked, but instead be realistic and make quality things within their means.

For example, in Gw1, we were limited by body type, so we didn’t have such horrible designs… things like floating shoulders are so terrible.

I’d take having only one body type of charr if it would mean well designed armor.

Actually I envy the charr with the new armors. Specifically the Medium Armor:

Charr are the only ones with the visor/glasses on. The other races have a weird mask and the glasses up. I was hoping for the glasses on on my human but only Charr got it.

That said I agree that Charr should get more love. I can’t decide yet the armor combination for my own one because everything I like hides his horns and I find it extremely anticlimatic…. if the horns were retactable I could understand it, but those helmets and masks (even hoods, some hoods hide them, some not… I think if at least one hood can show them, all should) literally mutilate my character.

I know this would be TOO HARD, but I would love it if each race had their own details for each armor. For example on the same armor Sylvari would get more leafy parts and zones showing their luminiscense, Norn more fur parts and open parts to show their tattoos and they’re brave personality, Asura some floating lights/cubes and Charr a shape that adjust to their body without looking ridiculous, specially with Light armors.

I know it would be really hard and an incredible cost in production, but that would be awesome if ever happens.

But at least not cutting Charr horns should be a given.

To be honest, I find female charr to be possibly the most well-designed beast race female that I’ve played in an MMO, I already have three myself.

ANYWAY! I do agree that most of the armor pieces clipping with the tail is very annoying. Another annoying thing is how many of the shoulder pieces seem to float on female charr. It’s really limiting my ability to make awesome sets for my Charr. :|

I don’t think that is nessecarily true.

Capes were ingame during the early beta, and they worked quite well with Charr. They moved around with the tail just like their cultural armour does.

I haven’t made a Charr because I just don’t have a character slot for one, not that I’m ignoring them. Although…I haven’t checked out their armor options for the same reason…why look to see what I want, if I don’t have one? I don’t like any of the armor options for the asura (had one, remade her), but I’ll make one eventually anyway and come up with something, just because I absolutely must have 1 of each race (its a personal thing).

As for clipping issues…yeah I can deal. GW1 had clipping issues forever and a day and it was all cosmetic too. XD

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

tail holescringes … if only ppl knew what they were invoking here.

I think if we can put the focus on more substantive things for a minute: Lets look at way the Armors actually “FIT” our fine feline friends here…. Not very bloody well. they’re not form-fitting. They kinda bloat out wider than they should or “float” above just like they do on some Norns which is also really annoying. They could use a LOT more Inverse Kinematics & PhsyX in these details if they just linked the level of “Form-Fitting” to your Model Detail settings in Graphics.

But yeah there’s also the issue of very little Variety which is ALSO a shape-issue and “Form” issue. I’m not gonna bother linking specific examples beyond: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Charr_medium_armor ….the Masks obviously weren’t remodeled around the contours of the Muzzles and the Shoulder pieces just scale in all 3 XYZ axis all at the same time. And don’t even get me started on their Feet which is usually the most awesome looking part of any Beast-Hybrid race in most MMO’s that’s always key to defining a look for them. This is a real let down from one of the best Art Studios in the gaming business….

I’m just barely even competent on Maya/Max and even I could do a better job here WITHOUT MUDBOX if they made the raw files for these public…

what about the bloody heavy armor helmets? they do the exact same thing! the go right through the horns, cut through the neck sometimes! honestly though, you are putting in a race of beings unlike the other four in the game, and yet nothing is dont to make the armor fit them!

As stated above Charr’s aren’t the only ones with armor problems and clipping, but the tail and head too often present a problem for the charr. When I got my charr engi to 80 I was pleased with the Vatlaaw armor which seemed natural around the tail. I never show a helm as it simply wouldn’t be appropriate to obscure a perfect profile.

On the plus side, I think the Charr medium and heavy T3 is some of the best looking armor in the game, but yeah, more attention around armor is warranted and especially so with the Charr.

Aside from the clipping issues mentioned about leg armor and the tail, head gear and horns/snouts, and generally crappy looking footwear. Has anyone found a decent shield that doesn’t clip horribly with any of the heavy armor? I mean c’mon now a heavy armor melee profession that can’t use a shield without looking completely lame because it floats so far away from your characters back when stowed, or cuts under the pauldrons and into the breastplate and losses a third of the image when wielded. With all of the nice artwork designed and implemented into this game by the developers and none of these have been addressed. Yet there are so many new weapons skins introduced (many of which are controversial on their aquisition method) that a major shield clipping issue can be overlooked. And hardly any new armor skins introduced to top off the abandonment of the Charr appearance .

The shield floating is absolutely ridiculous as well as the gigantic, kittened pauldrons. They could all use a 50% decrease in size ‘cause that alone can make Charr the most ridiculous looking characters in the game. I don’t know why they thought it necessary to make the pauldrons that kitten big…

As for the new armor skins… we just got some and they neglect Charr again so that wouldn’t go so well.
