This issue, being stuck in combat even when foes stop attacking, has been highlighted by a little trick I used to stop getting attacked while trying to get the ORI in grenths temple.

In this case the ori was right beside a little room that you can jump into from where the ori is, jumping in there stopped the mobs attacking, but no mater how long you wait you don’t go out of combat unless you log out then back in, so no waypointing your way out of a tight situation, made even tougher by an event in the area.

But I have noticed many situations where mobs stop attacking, and you stay in combat, in alot of these cases the mobs are invulnerable from where you are. If they can’t attack you, you should be able to break out of combat, but instead you are forces to confront them, some times one, or like the other day I had to kill 3 different things before combat broke, despite them not being near each other.

Or, as I have just witnessed, someone else agros a mob, you get some AoE damage from mob but mob never agros on you, you remain stuck in combat, depsite moving away from mob, until foes are dead (presumably the one I got AoE from).

This can be made worse for rangers with pets agroing stuff outside your range and you having to run over and kill it (even after calling pet back) to break combat.

Watch your conditions. 9 times out of 10, when I’m stuck in combat, it’s cuz I have a long duration snare still on me or a low damage poison or some other condition that isn’t always obvious.

It is not about condition. I think he is talking about “Without Condition”. We are all aware of the condition case, although it is the first MMO I played to treat you still in combat with any condition/debuff/DoT on you even all enemies are dead. Seems like they don’t care about the strict definition of the word “In Combat”.

AFAIK, This “Permanently in Combat” situation appears frequently in the following cases:
(1) The mobs cannot reach you and reset, but you are still in combat forever.
(2) You stealth and the mob goes back to its position, still in combat.
(3) Environment weapons or turrets that target you but cannot hit you, either due to range or LoS (some disregard LoS though).
(4) Mob resets for no reason, especially in underwater, leaving you in combat.

Although it is possible to get out of combat by logging out and in in most cases, you will lose all stacking buffs from sigil and also buffs from sharpening stones, potion (these are bugs since release and again, just another thing they don’t bother to fix).

It isn’t a condition case. When you get in the infinite combat lock, the only ways to break it are either to relog, or to force combat with something else (and that last sometimes you need to repeat a few times).

Actions, not words.

If you are stuck in combat, try hitting ‘Z’ to put away your weapons. If I have no conditions that often knocks me out of combat so I start healing.

The game put you in comabt mode based on the known mobs in range. Sometimes it glitches and even though the mobs are not attacking you, you are still within the range – so you need move far away from any mob. It is annoying and it has happend to me on several occasions. Whats more annoying is that it doesnt matter if you are above or below the enemy – its like the radial distance that is the factor.

Are you asking if there’s a way for player to get out of combat mode instantly? There’s a ‘put away weapon’ button that instantly gets you out of combat mode, if that helps.

Something interesting I noticed and has worked 100% of the time, not exaggerating at all, but if you are combat locked, move (this is will be subjective) as far as you can from where the mobs originally started to attack / follow you.

Best way to know if you are far enough is if you notice your HP is regenerating quickly / moving faster / can change your skills / out of combat.

I wrote that like 4 posts above… lol

Two things give notice that you are NOT in combat:

1) Movement speed increases.
2) Health regenerates.

How to make this happen? Read my post…
